Poem 1
Erase Me Gently
Erase me gently
not like a storm, but like fog fading at dawn.
Take the laughter from the corners of my smile,
the echo of my feet on the path where I waited for you.
Erase the way I used to skip,
light with hope,
sure I’d see you again.
Erase the warmth in “I love you”
because I meant it,
and now I don’t know who I was
when I said it.
I am not here.
Not like I was.
But still,
you hold me in the quiet
of your hollow mind
and I wonder why
you can’t let go.
And then I remember
You are me.
And I am what you wish
you could forget.
