Chapter 1

While some people spend New Year’s Eve with their boyfriends, families, or children—

I spent mine hijacked in the air.

“We hear one move, and you’ll meet your God.”

One of the four hijackers said it calmly.

My plan to spend New Year’s with my boyfriend was fading fast.

I wasn’t about to be kidnapped without a fight.

No gun.

A dress.

A plane full of people.

Worst case: I get everyone killed.

Best case: I get myself killed.

I won't see my boyfriend again.

I watched carefully. I had to move fast if I wanted my plans back.

One of the hijackers kept staring at me.

I saw his intention clearly.

I acted scared—but inside, I almost smiled.

“I need to go to the toilet,” I said.

“No one moves or—”

“I’ll walk her,” the douchebag interrupted.

I was going to see my boyfriend.

It took me one minute to finish him. Thirty minutes for the others to check.

Not nice—leaving me waiting thirty minutes in a plane toilet.

“Jake, what the fuck are you doing? Update now.”

I opened the door, pulled him inside, and shut it.

Enjoy the toilet for the rest of the flight—together.

Two left.

One with the pilot.

One guarding the cockpit door.

It was time to change into an attendant’s uniform.

I went for the door guard first—whether I liked it or not.

“What are you doing here?”

He raised his gun.

“Jake said there’s a connection problem. They need an update.”

“Tell them we’re clear. Go back.”

He didn’t lower the gun.

How could he be that rude to a woman?

“They also said there’s a problem with the guns.”

“What?”

He glanced down.

That was enough.

The gun dropped.

So did he.

One problem left:

How do I get this bastard out of sight?

“What’s happening?”

The last hijacker opened the door, gun raised, scanning the hall.

He saw me under his friend’s body.

“For God’s sake, Z. Couldn’t you wait till we land for that?”

I waited until he turned again—

Then I took the shot.

Easy.

My boyfriend was waiting at the airport—

roses in one hand, chocolate in the other.

His smile made the entire flight worth it.

I kissed him.

“You didn’t bring me food by any chance, did you?”

“Plane food sucks, doesn’t it?”

“I’m happy I get to spend another year with you.”

“I’m happy too.”
