Happy New Year 🎊
Happy New Year 🎊
May the year bring you many beautiful things. May God’s blessings rain on you like the rain before the rainbow — bringing color, hope, and beauty into every life.
As we move into the new year, I want to introduce my newest project.
Last year, months before December, I took on a writing challenge purely for the sake of the challenge. It didn’t end well — mostly because it was prompt-based and not very well planned.
So instead, I returned to a project that has lived in my mind for a long time. I think I’ve mentioned it before. It’s called The Princess’s Manservant.
The idea started with a simple question: What would happen if, in an arranged marriage, the prince was disguised and lived close to the woman he was betrothed to?
I eventually abandoned the story because the worldbuilding became intense.
Why?
I actually love worldbuilding — as you saw with The Divine Priestess, now titled Nduzi Nso (still a work in progress). Over time, I’ve become deeply obsessed with fusing my Igbo Nigerian culture and heritage into my stories — especially pre-colonial Igbo history, which I find endlessly fascinating.
However, The Princess’s Manservant had a more Victorian-inspired aesthetic. I still wanted to weave in Igbo elements, and that led me to imagine an Igbo-Victorian era centered around two kingdoms.
Saddening? Yes.
And that was part of why I abandoned it.
Well… partly. The story also contained non-explicit BDSM themes.
Don’t look at me like that — I was going through a phase.
That said, I’ve revisited the story with clearer direction, and I’m excited to finally share it. The cover is ready, and the story will be released later this month — probably Friday the 23rd.
While you wait, I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates. Once the story officially begins, BTS posts will stop on the main blog, but they’ll continue on my Substack.
BTS posts will likely be on Wednesdays — I’m still figuring that out, but I’ll keep you updated.
See you next time.
