Violet
"Rex!" You shout. Annoyed- you repeatedly jump up in a feeble attempt to grab your cherished drawing pad from the giant ofe in front of you.
Theo. The tall, tan, handsome best friend of your brother, Rex. His body was obviously carved by God himself in all its perfection, his dark hair that is just long enough to cast a shadow over his gorgeous green eyes if he doesnt style it. Which- he normally doesn't. And you could swoon over the look of it.
"Come on, don't call for back up! You can do it, Petal, just a little higher!" Theo retorts comically with a quick wink.
Clearly enjoying this little game too much, as if it's not the thousandth time he's teased you this way.
"Theo, give her the notebook back," Rex says mid eye roll as he lazily strolls in the kitchen to come to your rescue, again.
"I was just testing to see if she grew any taller yet," Theo says with that smart ass grin as he lowers the drawing pad to your level.
You quickly snatch it from his hands in a huff, glaring daggers at his bright green eyes that glimmer a little too bright for your heart to keep from fluttering.
"With how often you make that joke you must expect me to grow to meet your Neanderthal height!" You yell, trying to pass off the rising heat in your cheeks as anger instead of whatever that flutter is in your chest.
"Neanderthal?" Rex questions with a scrunched brow as he looks between himself and Theo, both nearing the same height at this point. "Vi, I hate to say it, but you are short. We can't help that you stopped growing when you turned 14."
Theo snorts out a laugh while your mouth hangs open at your brother's lack of defense. "Traitor," you say with an unimpressed frown. You stalk off to your room, drawing pad in hand, to finish getting ready for the day.
You stand in front of your floor length mirror and begin applying sharp cat-eye shaped eyeliner with the same fluid movement you always have. Tousling your hair, shoving your wavy blonde locks back with no real care to how they look. They're wild and free- always hanging loosely around your face no matter how it's styled.
It's the last day of your junior year at high school, thank God.
Rex and Theo are graduating, a tinge of sadness hits you as you think about them no longer being around the school when you return for your own senior year.
"All alone," you mutter to yourself as you look over your reflection in the mirror. The same girl you see every time you look in it.
Hmm, when is he going to notice me as more than just the little sister?
The same question that you ask yourself each time. You sit thoughtfully for a moment, mulling over different versions of the moment you've imagined so many times.
You smile to yourself, thinking about those damn green eyes again.
Why does he have to look that good?
You look down at your drawing pad and flip to the page of his face- one of the many portraits you have secretly worked on while the boys worked on their cars. You reach out to touch his cheek, as if it's real, gently dragging your finger across his perfectly chiseled jaw.
He would never want that with you. You're just the delicate little sister. "Petal," as he says.
You smile at the sweet nickname you pretend to hate. The way his eyes meet yours as he says it, the same heat spreading through your body as if he just said it again.
"Vi!" Rex hollers from down the hall, jolting you out of your thoughts.
"What!?" You shout as you slam your drawing pad shut and turn around to face the doorway.
Heavy footsteps make their way to your open door in a hurry, the entrance quickly filled by your brother's large frame. He sports an only slightly annoyed look as he says, "Are you coming or not? We gotta go."
You look at the clock-
8:00 A.M. - Oops
You hurry to throw on your worn, black chuck's, neglecting to tie them as you grab your backpack and stuff your drawing pad in it. "I'm coming, go go go," you hurry as you shew your brother down the hall.
"What were you doing?" Your brother asks, shaking his head with a slight smile on his face.
"N-Nothing, I was just checking my hair in the mirror," you lie as you quickly trail behind him and make your way out to his car to climb in the front seat. You hurriedly strap yourself in as your brother starts the engine, which comes alive with a nice roar. Your brother and Theo love to work on cars. They both have worked on one another's as a team, pouring blood, sweat and tears into them to make them purr like kittens. And yes- maybe soup them up to make them a little faster than they need to be.
As you pull away from the curb in front of your house, you glance in the side mirror and catch that annoyingly good-looking neanderthal pulling right behind your brother's car to follow to school for the last time.
Theo
You grin as Rex stalks outside with Violet. She isn't looking, but you definitely are as you wait in your car. Openly allowing your eyes to roam her perfect body from head to toe- you've never seen anything so captivating in your life.
Violet has grown in to such a beautiful woman, her wavy blonde hair, perfectly pale skin beginning to look sunkissed from her time outside. She's grown right into her curves already, holding that perfect hourglass shape. Her hazel eyes that hold so many questions in them every time you catch them staring into your own.
What do you want, Petal?
You wonder to yourself. It's clear her annoyance is faked to some degree. While you do pick on her as often as you can, you know she enjoys your attention. You can tell by the way her body responds to it. The way her breath hitches, her eyes avert from your own when you get close, her cheeks flush with heat and lately you'd swear you even caught her thighs pressing together while she watches you work.
You've always found her to be so beautiful, but felt she was off limits due to your friendship with Rex. You wouldn't want to step on his toes, the man is like your brother.
Maybe I can ask him about taking her out some time. No- she's out of your league and what if he hates you for it?
You think to yourself. Violet is so smart, she can do anything she wants with her life. Meanwhile, you're just good at cars. Physical labor. She deserves someone that can match her in that way.
Someone that has more to offer.
Lost in thought, you barely remember to put the car in drive to follow Rex to school. Quickly shifting it in drive, you pull away from the curb and stay back just enough to watch that pretty blonde hair flow in the side mirror. And you'd swear you caught her looking at you, too.
Rex
You turn the radio up and glance over at Vi. You smile as you notice her looking in the side mirror- again.
You shake your head, knowing she tries to keep it a secret. You know her too well- she likes Theo. More than she likes to let on too. Always pretending she hates how he teases her. Hell- he pretends too. Pretends to pick on her for enjoyment, when really it's because he flirts the only way he thinks he can.
You figure he thinks you'd be mad if you found out- trouble is you already know. At first, you might have been a little mad, but that's normal for you. Anger issues you developed when you were kids- living with your so called parents.
Growing up in a torturous household, but poor Violet got it the worst.
She was a girl after all- and your father liked that fact too much. Your useless addict mother did nothing to stop it. No matter how hard you tried to protect her- you couldn't. It made you angry- helpless. Now you can go from calm to rage in a matter of seconds.
Especially if it involves Violet.
But the more you thought about it, the more you were okay with it. You love them both, and you know Theo wouldn't hurt her. He's not much of a ladies man, he damn near avoids every girl but Violet. Only ever having sex with one girl that you know of and it didn't last.
Not that that's a problem, but most guys aren't like that. You look over at her again and notice she's looking out the window, stealing glances in the mirror when she can.
You nod to yourself, yeah it'd be cool if they dated.
Shit- if anything it'd at least ease the constant tension between the two. You could cut that with a knife.
