Prologue
This was no night for traveling. The rain was coming down in torrents. How could anyone see to drive? Why had he agreed to go to this Halloween party? Why did he agree to anything that involved this day?
Halloween was his least favorite holiday. It was stupid for adults to dress up and go to parties. He still couldn’t believe he was dressed as a clown. He had chosen the costume to scare a friend of his.
That was the only reason he was even going out tonight. His friend had invited him to come. He would prefer to stay home. However, his closest friend had convinced him to come. He always could do that.
His phone buzzed in the center console. This wasn’t the best time for him to take a phone call. He was trying to make sure he didn’t go off the road, or hit another car. He answered it, hitting the speaker button.
“Hello.” He sighed. “I’m driving.”
“Where are you?”
“I’m on my way to your house.” He answered his best friend.
“I thought you’d changed your mind.”
“No, I’ll be there soon.” He started around the turn when he saw the lights.
There was a car coming straight at him on his side of the road. Slamming his foot on the brakes he felt the car lurch sideways. He tried turning the wheels, but it was too late. Before he could say a word the car went toward the cliff.
