SHORT CHAPTER (1) Love That Endures

PERSONAL DEVOTIONAL

This has been on my mind for a long time, and I know my thoughts don't always come out in perfect order. But I am someone who observes, listens, and reflects deeply. I notice patterns in people, in emotions, and in relationships.

Many people believe in first love—the idea that the moment you lay eyes on someone, love is instantly born. They say, "The first time I saw you, I fell in love." That has never been my experience. I've never been able to believe that love begins in a single moment or a single feeling.

To me, love is something that can fade when it is built only on emotions. Feelings change. Attraction shifts. What once felt strong can slowly disappear. That's why I often ask myself: What is the true meaning of love?

I know what the Bible says—that love is patient, that love is kind. I understand that there is a difference between worldly love and godly love. Worldly love is loud, emotional, and temporary. It thrives on excitement but struggles with commitment. Godly love, however, is quiet, steady, and lasting. It is rooted in obedience, sacrifice, and truth.

POEM

Love is not in fleeting sparks,

Nor in the first glance that lights the heart.

It is not born in a moment,

But grows in the hands of God.

It is still, waiting patiently,

Trusting in His perfect timing.

It is steady when storms arise,

Anchored in the One who never fails.

True love is rooted in the Spirit,

Fed by prayer, by grace, by truth.

It does not waver with emotions,

Nor fade when trials come.

It is enduring, tested and refined,

Shaped in the quiet of obedience.

Faithful love chooses every day,

To forgive, to serve, to remain.

Love is sacrificial, humble, and meek,

Not seeking honor or its own way.

It gives freely, expecting nothing,

Reflecting Christ in every act.

Patient love waits without complaint,

Knowing God works in all things.

It bears burdens, comforts the weary,

And rejoices in what is good and pure.

This love is divine, not worldly,

A reflection of Heaven's own heart.

It grows through God's Word and Spirit,

And stands when all else falls apart.

So let your love be God-shaped,

Steadfast, humble, full of grace.

For the truest love endures forever,

And leads others to His embrace.
