POKÉMON STARTER SQUAD: THE JOURNEY CONTINUES.

Summary

Based off the YouTube series by Pierce Shipp and the popular pocket monster video game, this is a bit of a passion project. (Not that you’re here for any emotional crying.) Follows not the Kanto Starters but rather the Galar Starters with a bit of a little One Piece styled arcs but I’m hoping y’all like what I’ve got to show.

Galar Arc: A Trainer’s “Beginning”. Pt.1

Welcome to the wonderful Pokémon, the species which grows, evolves and battles alongside their trainers for ultimate adventures and even have chances to encounter special Pokémon. Here in the Galar region was our main hero, a boy by the name of Victor, now Victor here was old enough to not just partake in the Pokémon League but also defeat the Champion himself, Leon. He exits his house where a few Rookidees were flying high above his red beanie’d head, walking down the path that extended from his house to his rivial, Hop’s. As soon as Hop saw Victor he couldn’t help but get excited.

“Hey, Victor! Can you believe that we’re finally old enough to become Pokémon Trainers? Let’s head down to the professor’s place as soon as we can, I can’t wait!”

With that, the two boys ran from Hop’s house across the dirt paths which lined the simple Galar town of Postwick, eventually stumbling upon Leon, chatting with the professor’s granddaughter, Sonja. She noticed the two boys and smiled.

“Anyways… Victor, Hop, you two must be here to receive a Starter Pokémon, right? Well I won’t keep you boys waiting.”

She said, leaving and retrieving three PokéBalls (A device heavily used for capturing wild Pokémon.) She tossed the balls, releasing the three Starters within: Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble, but these three were extremely different from what Hop and Victor (Mainly Hop.) had seen on TV.

“These are Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble. They’re a little different from most of the Starters we typically give out but I hope they don’t make a difference… if they do, my grandmother will be down my neck for years..”

Victor looks down at the three Pokémon with indifference, they were all the same, and if they were different than so be it, it was these three or norhing. Hop on the otherhand was furious at this seemingly pathetic lot.

“What’s so wrong with these three Pokémon again? Just to be sure.”

“Sadly poor Sobble here is blind, Grookey has very powerful senses, able to differ between food and trash even when blindfolded, it’s kind of cute. As for Scorbunny, we’re trying to figure that out… it has a unusual genome within its DNA. It could be dangerous if unche-“

Suddenly something happened, it could’ve been the washing machine which had been left on that knocked something over, it could’ve been a cruel twist of fate but suddenly the entire lab exploded, only leaving four survivors, Leon, Hop, Sonia and Leon’s iconic Charizard, sadly Victor had parished in the explosion and the three Starter Pokémon had been presumed dead. A true tragedy to the boy who was about to get his first Starter Pokémon.

As rain fell down upon the Galar region, a funeral was held, to honor the fallen trainer, Hop glares at his gravestone, he began to renounce and dispise all Pokémon. He was hurt and angry, silently vowing to become Pokémon Champion, for his fallen friend.

bushbaby: Really fantastic book, despite the MFC background it felt like a satisfying, almost cheesy happy book. While her background is a challenge in itself, I would have loved to see some other challenge the couple had to overcome or even the clan to lean into the bear side more. lblomme: I always love a story where good overcomes evil. The sad start, the growth, and ultimate strength of the main character was well done. The story never lagged and ultimately delivered a happy ending even for characters who were less than stellar. Well done!

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
