Jayden's Pov
Everywhere was lighted, tables were set, the night air was cool, everything was lovely until it wasn't. Today is the birthday of the second high mage. "Happy birthday Your Excellency, May you live long and may all your days be glorious," I said with a smile on my face. "Thank you, you must be Jayden right?," "Yes i am," I replied. "It's so good to finally mee-," His words were cut short as an arrow flies through his chest. Gasps and screams fill the air as i spot a shadow on the roof running away. I immediately followed him, the person who i believe might also be responsible for the recent murders in the kingdom.
I quickly caught up with him but before I could get to him, he stopped, turned around and attacked. Today, i wanted to make sure I catch this so called shadow assassin that has been wreaking havoc. As he kicked me, i was able to pull the mask off his - HER face. The shadow assassin is a woman. Before i could make a move , She jumped on the roof and escaped before i could catch up. "Where did he go," James asked looking around before instructing the guards to look around.
"Do you think he is the same assassin who killed the third high mage at the supreme temple three weeks ago, and also killed the sorcerer at Mangrove mountain", James asked while looking at the files of the earlier mentioned cases. "I'm not sure but i think so since they were all killed with the same method and similar arrowhead, but it will be hard to find her since we don't know who she is, where's she's from and why she's doing this," Jayden added still looking at the mask in his hands. "And there's this mark on her forehead that looks very familiar," "Hold on, are you trying to say that you saw her face, and she didn't kill you," "What do you mean by that," Jayden asked. Three weeks ago after the third high mage was killed, a senior mage went after her, when he came back to the temple, he was shot out of nowhere before he could speak. The sorcerer that was killed at Mangrove mountain was also present and went after her when the senior mage was killed, and he was murdered two days later," James explained. "So what you're trying to say is -," " If I'm right, she's coming after you,"James cut him off.
She's coming back.
Jayden smiled at the idea then drew out the mark he saw on her forehead. "Here, look into this symbol and tell me everything you find," Jayden instructed and handled the paper to James. "What about the shadow assassin coming after you?," "I'll take care of it", "What will you do?," James asked. "I'll wait, instead of going after her i'll wait for her to come to me.
