Chapter 1
When Mommy and Daddy say goodnight, they turn off the lights.
Then, the sun rises.
Big brother is fighting his girlfriend in the other room again.
I know, because the whole house is shaking.
Everyone is shouting at each other.
My window shatters.
I’m confused. I see my skeleton.
Someone set off a firework bigger than the whole city and brighter than the sun.
It’s so bright, it sets skyscrapers on fire.
“Mommy, there’s a mushroom in the sky!”
A blast smashes my house.
My skin is on fire. I scream. Mommy and Daddy can’t put me out in time.
