Summary

To stay safe, Anaya lived a discreet life. To avoid danger at the hands of her own father, she hid her wolf and lived as the wolf-less daughter of the Alpha. Bullied by her stepsister every day, Anaya remained calm, appearing a 'weakling' in their eyes, until the Phoenix Pack arrived. Her mask fell off – all thanks to Alaric. The guy who was always there to save her from everyone. The guy who was too dominant and powerful to be just a follower. Tormented by the attraction she had for Alaric, Anaya knew that becoming entangled with him meant danger, especially since she was supposedly mate-less.

Chapter 1; Unloved

Anaya POV.

“Shit!”

Thankfully, it was just in my mind. Perhaps because I often experienced being pulled to the CR, I got used to it. I didn’t even need to ask who the culprit was because, even with my eyes closed, I could smell the scent of the person I hated the most, not only at school but at home. My half-sister Shaina.

“Are you kidding?!” Shaina whispered, but the tendon in her neck almost snapped, probably because of the anger she was holding back.

“Seriously?” I murmured while opening my backpack. From there, I took a folder and handed it to her. It contained Shaina’s project.

Shaina violently reached for the folder and immediately opened it.

‘Hmph! As if her brain could understand it!’ I couldn’t help but frown as I prepared to leave.

For the past two years, this was our situation... I did everything while Shaina got everyone’s praise.

′ Mom...′ Again, I remembered my mother... It’s been two years since my mother was found hanging in her room, lifeless.

Suicide... The daughter of the strongest alpha and the Luna of the pack killed herself...

A weakling Luna...

So instead of mourning, everyone condemned her and, as her daughter, they took their anger out on me.

I reached for the door but Shaina pushed my hand away and said, “Next time I give work, make sure you finish it early! You know I need to review all this!” After her remark, Shaina came out first.

I clenched my fist tightly. More than anyone, I knew within myself that I couldn’t show any emotion, especially anger.

‘Damn! That crazy bitch! I want to snap her neck!’ Hope roared in my head.

A smile spread across my lips before I could breathe a sigh of relief. ‘We both want that... But fortunately we can’t...’

‘Yeah right! I almost forgot... you announced you were wolfless!’

‘Huh! You didn’t wake up in time so it’s your fault...’ I still remember my father’s face on the night of the full moon where everyone over the age of sixteen shifted for the first time while I was standing on the side, shaking in frustration.

‘Hey! That’s not fair...’

‘Silly... I’m just messing up with you.’ Hope explained that the Lyric bloodline is unique. Their first awakening occurs during the New Moon and it only applies to every second generation. Perhaps this is what my grandfather meant when he told me I was special, like him.

‘By the way, the full moon is coming... What are your plans?’

‘Same as before...’ I step out of the bathroom and walk towards the classroom. Being a ‘wolf-less’ means I’m safe.

Safe from the eye of my crazy step-sister and step-mother.

So, every time the full moon comes, I hide.

‘Great! This time, we will succeed!’

A smile spread across my lips. Before the first awakening, I was set to be demoted as an Omega. I still remember that day...

The day I lose hope to my father.

“Anaya is a threat! What if she becomes crazy, like her mother!” Zera’s voice was full of fear and doubt as she hugged my father’s arm.

“My mother is not crazy... ” I butted in as my tears continued to flow.

One week after burying my mother and here she was, trying to eradicate my existence from my father’s life.

“Silence!” my father’s cold voice echoed.

“Your mother is weak, so she killed herself! That reason is enough to call her crazy! And you, as her daughter, mean it is in your blood. ..”

Again, tears flowed from my eyes as I stared at my father. Has he forgotten that I also carry his blood!? I was no longer surprised. Didn’t he forget his love for my mother?

“Alpha, I’m scared... What if she’s planning something bad for me and our child?”

Best actress—Zera’s performance today is remarkable. If I didn’t know her true nature, I could say she was scared. Her eyes widened as her whole body trembled and my pathetic father bought that.

“Don’t worry. I already know what to do. After Anaya’s awakening, she will serve as Omega! She will never step into this house or come closer to you and our daughter!”

I couldn’t help but sneer. Me? Omega? The granddaughter of the true Alpha of the pack will be the servant?

After that declaration, my father never spoke to me again. Then the awakening comes, and since no wolf has awakened, there is no danger.

I remain as the daughter of the Alpha.

The useless, wolf-less daughter of the alpha.

“Anaya! Finally! Where have you been?” Kelly stopped in front of me while holding her chest, gasping for breath.

“What is it again?” I couldn’t help but smile as I patted her back. Of all the changes in my life, only Kelly Morgan remained. She is my childhood best friend who stays and supports me on my darkness day.

Instead of answering, Kelly pulled me to a corner where no one was around. “Anaya, do you still remember the Alpha of the Phoenix pack?”

I thought for a moment.

“Yeah, I remember my grandfather and their previous alpha are best of friends... why?”

Best of Friends is not the right term. ‘Blood-Brother’ is the right term because they form a blood pack. I still remember my grandfather telling me stories about their adventure together and of course I also saw their closeness when the alpha of the Phoenix pack visited with his grandson.

“Anaya! I’m not talking about the old Phoenix pack! I’m talking about the new one!” Kelly’s excitement was overrated.

If the new one she was referring to, then I supposed it was the son of the best friend that my grandfather hated. “So? What does this have to do with me?” I asked with a frown.

“Of course it has to do with you! They are here because of you!” Kelly grabbed my hands while her eyes sparkled.

I frowned when I remembered why.

“Anaya, you’re going to be the next Luna of the Phoenix pack!” This was the explicit statement of the then Alpha of the said pack.

“Ha ha ha! Indeed! My Anaya will be a great Luna of the Phoenix pack!” my grandfather remarks while looking at me.

I was six years old at that time and I did not know what they meant. But now, I know, and there is no way I will marry someone my father is the same age as!

“Hell no!”
