The Secret of the Temple and Common Blood
The Temple of the First Heirs
Kaelin and Aiden had taken refuge in the Temple of the First Heirs. The temple was an ancient center of Heir wisdom that had remained sealed for centuries. The circular area at its center was filled with runic inscriptions aligned with the lunar cycles. With her artistic eye, Kaelin immediately noticed the intricate patterns and astronomical alignments within these inscriptions.
Aiden was trying to balance the uncontrolled power of the Transformation Herb with the peaceful energy of the temple.
"This temple," Aiden said, placing his hand—where the Ring glowed—upon a runic stone, "unlike the Luna Sanctum, wasn't built solely for protection. It was built upon balance and harmony."
Kaelin was examining an inscription next to Aiden. Two different figures were depicted in the carving: a wolf and a human. Between the figures was a stylized flower resembling the Transformation Herb.
Kaelin tried to decipher the inscription she had quickly sketched into her notebook. "These Heirs didn't build this temple to hide the Ring or the Herb; they built it to show us how to balance their power."
"What does the writing say?" Aiden asked curiously.
Kaelin read the inscription: "When the Blood of Silver meets the Heart of the Forest, the cycle is complete. Transformation obeys not the Moon, but the Human."
"Blood of Silver... the Heirs," Aiden interpreted. "Heart of the Forest... this herb?"
"No, it's more than that," Kaelin said, pointing to the leaf of the Transformation Herb. "Look at the runes beneath the leaf. The herb doesn't just control the transformation. It amplifies energy. But this energy must be balanced not only by Heir blood, but also by human wisdom and fearlessness."
Kaelin pointed to a small compartment beneath the inscription. The compartment was a silvery, crystalline pool.
"This pool was used to purify the power of the Transformation Herb," Kaelin explained. "And the inscription says that for the purification to be complete, not only Heir blood but also a 'Mortal Offering' is required. This isn't a curse; it's a partnership."
Aiden’s eyes widened. "Valerius’s Ancient Laws were misinterpreted, Kaelin. By avoiding humans for centuries, the Heirs have prevented themselves from reaching their full power."
Kaelin’s Sacrifice
Aiden extended the leaf of the Transformation Herb, held in his hand where the Ring glowed, toward the silvery water in the pool. As soon as the leaf touched the water, the pool filled with a brilliant blue light.
However, the 'Mortal Offering' required by the inscription was still missing.
"Kaelin," Aiden said. "The inscription... says a drop of blood is needed to complete the purification. Pure blood."
Kaelin did not hesitate. She took the small knife (the one she used to escape Seraphina’s trap) and lightly cut her finger. A single drop of blood fell into the blue-lit water of the silvery pool.
As the blood touched the water, its color suddenly turned to emerald green. All the runic inscriptions in the temple began to glow, and a wave of energy rose from the center of the room. This wave radiated a sense of peace and controlled power.
Aiden smiled. "It worked. The power is purified. Now we can use the Transformation Herb without losing our control."
But this purification had also alerted Seraphina.
