Chapter 1: The Unexpected Job Offer

The Unexpected Job Offer

Eddie Sullivan had always dreamed of making people laugh, but it seemed like the universe was determined to crush his stand-up comedy aspirations. Every stage he graced was met with stony-faced audience members and awkward silence. In the quaint town of Willow Creek, where eccentricity thrived, Eddie’s failures only highlighted his lack of success.

One sunny afternoon, Eddie flopped onto his worn-out couch, dejected from yet another disastrous open mic night. He stared at the peeling wallpaper, contemplating whether it was time to give up on his comedic dreams.

Just as he had resigned himself to a life of mediocrity, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence. Eddie checked the screen, surprised to see a message from his old high school friend, Lisa. She had always been the responsible one, with a sensible job and a stable life. The message read,

‘Hey Eddie! I heard you’re having trouble with the comedy stuff. Well, I might have a solution for you. How about being a wedding planner? Trust me, it’s a hilarious disaster waiting to happen. Call me ASAP.’

Scratching his head in confusion, Eddie dialed Lisa’s number. Within minutes, she explained that her wedding planning business was in desperate need of help and thought Eddie’s self-deprecating humor would be the perfect fit.

After a lengthy discussion and the promise of a steady income, Eddie reluctantly agreed to give it a shot. ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ he wondered as he put on his best suit and drove to Lisa’s office.
