Chapter 1: On the Run
On the Run
I sat in the old car, my heart pounding in my chest. I had been on the run for days now, ever since I had been accused of murder. It seemed like the whole town had turned against me, and I was left with no one to turn to.
I had to keep going. I had to find out the truth—not just for me, but for my best friend Franklin. He had died in an accident a few months ago, but something about it didn’t sit right with me. I had to get to the bottom of it.
I started up the car, ready to go, but I was stopped by a sudden flashing of blue and red lights in my rearview mirror. The police had spotted me and they were coming to get me. I had only two choices: run or surrender.
