Dragon Tamer

A pirate captain was looking out into the sea which seemed calm. The wind was blowing the perfect direction for their location. The crew were all working hard. Their archer was cleaning her bows... Nakoa...The captain ran a hand through their hair and sighed.

Almost a split second later the sea seemed to shift. A large blue... green?? Does it even matter right now!?...creature flew out of the water and made the ship rock back and forth roughly. Things were sliding back and forth.

Nakoa quickly stopped what she was doing and went to look at the edge. “That looks like a serpant...?” She was puzzled

It came out of the water again and they could get a good view. It wasn’t just some sea serpant. It was a dragon.

“I thought wild dragons weren’t seen around here?” The captain asked with extreme concern in their voice.

Their navigator shook her head. She raised one of her hoof like hands to her chest “according to all the research there shouldn’t be. So either the data was off or this dragon is away from home.”

The ship rocked again as the dragon continued circling them.

Nakoa was using her bow to try and fight off the dragon. She wasn’t trying to hurt it or kill it just to get it away from them. As much as she didn’t want to kill it.. it was either the dragon or her friends.

As if things couldn’t get worse a storm.also came in from nowhere. No islands in sight. Just a dragon and a storm.

“We’re doomed” the captain thought as they tried to figure out a plan. There was nothing they could really do in this case.

Their ship was slowly being destroyed despite their efforts. Just like that lightning struck the top of the ship making a loud thunderous echo. The flag was on fire and the dragon attacked.

The crew jumped off the ship and managed to get into a few boats or a little bit of debris.

everyone was stuck in the water the ship was destroyed.

The dragon fled and everyone was separated from each other with the currents.

Nakoa could survive the water but she was injured. She couldn’t swim properly to stay with the group. She held onto a piece of the ship and slowly closed her eyes.

Who knew how long passed eventually nakoa washed up on a shore. She had the best chance of survival being a fish person but even that attack was rough on her. She didn’t have any of her weapons now and was injured from the chaos multiple scratches on her legs and arms and face. One on he leg being deeper than the others. It really stung...

Her hair was a messy and her dress was torn.

She slowly stood up and looked around. Hopefully the rest of the crew was okay. “Rinji..” she murmured to herself as she walked further into the island, her feet sinking into the sand.

As she was walking around the island, she found a couple more crew members before seeing a ship in the distance.

The ship wasnt theirs but maybe they were friendly?? Only one way to find out.

As they began making their way to the ship, they noticed the debris of their ship. Some more of their crew was found along with some weapons and navigation tools too.

They all caught up and made sure they were okay before looking around and deciding to head towards the ship.

As they did, the same blue/green dragon from before began flying in circles around the ship before perching up on what seemed to be a roost on the ship.

As they got closer, they noticed other pirates on the island and the ship was a lot larger than it was in the distance.

Who needed a ship that big?!?

As they arrived at the ship, they noticed a few other dragons. An all white dragon, an all black dragon, and three toddler sized babies of the two. At least the colors seemed to indicate that.

Before they could ask question, they were surrounded by the dragon family. The three babies in front and the two adults in the back, preventing their escape.

The crew rushed over to see what had the attention of their dragons. A short man appeared in front of the others. He seemed very cautious.

“What is your business here?” He asked, his voice deep and not fitting his height or beautiful face.

Nakoa was about to speak and ready to raise her weapon before the captain raised their arm. The captain stepped forward and kept their hands visible just in case.

“I am Rinji of the black stripe pirates...” they began “we were on our way to visit one of our crews home lands”

Amidala waved. She was an elf like being. So it made sense for her island to be secluded and far away from other islands.

Rinji continued “on our journey we were attacked by a dragon and well... a storm happened at the same time.”

A little being popped up on their shoulder and spoke “I know it sounds fake but it wasn’t”

Rinji quickly shhed her and again continued speaking “both of these things happened and destroyed our ship so we happened to wash up on this island...”

The short man listened intently before stepping between the toddler sized dragons and stopping between two of the three and petting the head of the one on his right.

“I take it the dragon you encountered is the one perched on my ship?” He asked as he looked around

Amidala nodded

The man hummed and thought for a second before he sighed. Before he could say anything, one of his crew members ran over.

“Onyx! We found the egg of a Whisplight!” He said excitedly

The small man, now Onyx, smiled and his eyes glittered and shined in excitement.

“Unexpected but most definitely rewarding. Do we know if the mother is near?”

The other pirate shook his head. “Sorry, sir. It looks like she left not too long before we arrived. The egg is still warm.”

Onyx nodded “collect the egg and document it. Take it to Lidra so she can care for it until it hatches”

The pirate saluted and went to do as told.

Nakoa watched the interaction before she leaned close to Rinji. “Cap, I think one of two things. Either theyre keeping these dragons against their will. Or. Theyre saving them.” She whispered.

The family of dragons perked up at the whispers and tilted their heads at Nakoa

Nakoa looked at them and tilted her head in return. Animal instinct i guess. They both seemed confused as they looked at each other. Misty also being animal like followed suit. It was just a bunch of head tilting.

Rinji had to hold back a laugh and stay serious as they looked at Onyx “we aren’t here to get in your way. We just want to get off this island and get a new ship so we can continue onward.”

Onyx nodded and chuckled as he watched the dragons and animal-like crew look and investigate each other “we can give you a ride to the next big city so you can get a new ship if youd like. Itd take probably a couple months, including detours in our search, if youre not on a time base”

Rinji bowed their head “we would be grateful and we can help out in any way we can. I have many skilled crew members.”

Onyx nodded and led them to his ship.

It looked like the typical pirate ship however it had nests for the family and one for Lidra, who was currently sitting on the new egg for hatching under the deck.

Under the deck were more nests just in case, along with plenty of food for the crew. The dragons catch their own via fish. Some makeshift toys as well for the little ones

The captains quarters was as you would expect but with a couple extra beds and nests for guest captains and the little dragons in case they get cold or sickly.

The other end of the deck had the crew quarters. Not much really, maybe 6/7 beds max, 4 going for Onyx’s crew.

Onyx gave the run down of how his ship works and what their goal was.

“Our main goal is to bring back dragons and keep them safe. I have a santuary far off and hidden where hundreds of breeds are kept. They are currently thriving but I am not ready for humans to see them.”

Nakoa leaned forward and down a bit to get a better look at Onyx. Her sharp teeth showing as she smiled at him. “I like that saving them n stuff. I’m also an enjoyer of saving things. Back home I rescued a lot of sea animals before I started traveling.”

Onyx smiled “I would love to do that, however I cant since I cant go that deep so dragons became my hyperfixation.” He hummed as he pet Dart

“I’ll help any way I can while we are here. Months huh... im sure that’ll be fun.”

Rinji and the others had left with some of the crew to learn about their jobs, but nakoa was focused on onyx. She thought he was small and cute and could probably be thrown in the air.

Onyx smiled at her and showed her around before they were back on top deck “so, what are you?” He asked bluntly as he poured a drink for them both

“Well we’re really called fishmen or mermaids i just happen to be a mix of both. Some people just say fish people fish person. Basically im a sea creature. Raaa” she made a fake growl noise as she took a drink

Onyx snorted and turned away as he slightly choked on his drink. He began a coughing fit that lasted a minuted and burned like hell.

Once he was done dying, he looked back at her “sorry, not sorry. The raaa just caught me off guard.”

“Sorry about that!” She gently pat his back before putting one arm behind her head. “Ahh the sea breeze always makes my day.”

She looked out at the water as she took a drink. She smiled showing her sharp teeth as she pulled the tankard away. The wind gently blowing her hair as she looked up to watch some birds. Her eyes following them.

Onyx watched her and slightly smiled. She was cute and very tall.

His attention was pulled away by a creatures shadow in the waters not too far ahead.

“Hey, fish lady. Would you wanna see what that is?” He asked as he pointed to the shadow

“Hell yeah I do” she sat down her drink and stretched before she dove into the water. Being careful not to get too close just in case but close enough to see decently.

Onyx waited anxiously for her to return

Nakoa finally got a good look and it seemed to he a leviathan. It mainly seemed whale-like yet with a longer almost serpant like tail. It was a dusty blue color and had scales and barnacles its fins almost looked like fingers in some spots it was ominous.

It didn’t seem to be planning on attacking they just happened to cross its path and needed to be careful regardless so they didn’t provoke it.

Nakoa was amazed by the creature. She had seen one before but it was smaller and nothing like this. She observed it for a few minutes before she went back towards the surface.

Her hair framing her face and splashing as she pulled up from the water. She climbed back on the ship soaked, her clothes clinging to her showing what muscles couldn’t be seen before. “It isn’t attacking or aggressive right now but we should be careful. It’s a leviathan I believe and if we provoke it...”

Onyx gave her a once over before nodding at her report. “Makes sense. Dedre! Turn the ship towards the left! We have a leviathan to the right!”

The person at the steering nodded and saluted as he obeyed the command.

Onyx nodded to himself and watched as they went to the left.

The wind blew and he noticed Nakoa shiver a little so he took off his coat and handed it to her.

She couldn’t hold back a giggle as he did so. The coat mainly covered her shoulders if even that since she was a lot bigger than him. She appreciated the gesture and to show that she leaned down and pressed a quick kiss against his cheek. He could feel that she had slightly scaled skin.

She raised up and watched as they passed the leviathan.

Onyx chuckled a little bit and watched as they passed.

Even hours later, he still felt the scales of her skin against his.

Wait no. That was because she was rested over hsi shoudlder as he did his captain duties

Out of nowhere she spoke up “you’re quite small but very mighty”

“Compared to you, yes I am small. As for mighty, I must be”

“Let me see something.”

Before he could say anything else she had lifted him up almost as if it were nothing. “Do you ever ride the dragons” she said as the switched him to one hand to see if she could hold him that way

Onyx just let her move him around like a doll. “I do. Usually the adults of the family on board. The little ones are too small right now but once they grow up I plan to ride train em”

“Makes sense I see they would easily be able to carry you on their back.” She gently sat him down

Onyx chuckled “yea, I’m not that heavy but I do have a lot of people respecting me.”

“I can understand why. You seem to have a strong mind. Im quite interested im knowing how you work and run things.” She looked down at him and seemed to get a little flustered out of nowhere.

She shook her head and handed him his coat “im dry and I think your coat is too”

Onyx nodded and giggled as he put on his coat “if you want, you can follow me. I dont mind.”

Nakoa leaned forward and a noise that was almost like purring but not quite... a weird fish purr i guess.. escaped her throat “I would love to. If you need help with anything im here!”

Onyx became a bit flustered but nodded “of course”

Nakoa walked over to the edge of the ship and leaned over it carefully to watch in the water. He eyes darting around to every little fish or rock she saw observing as she waited for herself to be needed for something.

A while passed before it became nightitme and everyone went to their beds.

The new crew got the spare beds. Rinji caught up with everyone before she came to Nakoa.

“How do you like em?”

Nakoa smiled softly “I hung out with the captain most of the day. Small fellow but really smart and always knows what to do. Interesting.” She looked towards the door

“Does he seem like a good guy?” They asked, seeing the look in Nakoa’s eyes

“Absolutely I think his intentions are good either that or he’s really aware and good at not showing his true intentions which could be the case but id like to believe the first one”

Rinji smiled and nodded “I’m glad you like him. Hopefully we arrive to Amidala’s island in the next month or two. I hate being a burden to others”

“I know but as long as we help out in any way we can. Hopefully we can repay them somehow.”

Everyone said they goodnights and slept where they could fit. It was a rough first night but soon everyone got used to it.

A few days passed, maybe a week. Everything was going mostly smoothly none of Rinji’s crew new exactly where they were going or what stops had to be made but they couldn’t complain since they were saved and being given a way to safety.

Nakoa was laying on the side of the ship. She was just enjoying the sun trying not to be too up onyx’s ass as much as she wanted to.

Onyx was walking around when he came up to Nakoa.

“Hey, we are coming up on a city if yiu wanna get some supplies and/or look for a ship”

She sat up and nodded “I’ll let Rinji know then.” Part of her was bummed that if they found a good ship the journey would be over already but part of her was relieved they’d finally have their own way again

Nakoa waved at Onyx and went to inform Rinji before going back to look over the edge until they arrived. She would occasionally glance at Onyx.

Onyx was preparing his crew for when the docked and told everyone what they needed to do and who needed to get what.

Once they landed, the dragons stayed on the ship for safety purposes along with one trusted crew member.

Everyone else went into the city and got supplies and Rinji’s crew got information about different ships.

Sadly, they had no luck at this city finding a suitable ship but they did find other supplies they had been looking for.

Onyx had found Nakoa and informed her that they were ready to leave whenever they were and to take their time.

Nakoa looked at onyx and sighed “no luck on a ship good enough for our journey. But hey... wanna get some food with me before we start sailing again?”

Onyx shrugged and nodded. He told a member of his crew to let the others know they cna chill and wonder around for a while.

“Where were you thinkin?” They began walkin when one of the baby dragons, Dart, tackled him playfully from behind

“Im not sure, anywhere with meat though I’m dying for a big nice meaty meal.” Nakoa stretched before patting her tummy

Onyx hummed as he played with the toddler dragon for a minute “you know where we can something like that Dart?” He asked as the babu began sniffing the air and leading them to a place

Nakoa happily followed the little dragon and Onyx.

Once they arrived she sniffed the air “hell yeah this would be a good spot.” It was a decent sized tavern that probably had good booze too.

She wandered inside and found an empty table for them. Once they ordered and it was prepared at the bar of the tavern she walked over and grabbed everything they ordered no problems bringing it back to the table.

Her mouth was watering and her eyes were sparkling as she looked down at thr meat on her plate “I know this is gonna be AMAZING” she took a drink of the alcohol she got herself and happily dug into the meat. I guess there were some veggies too...

Onyx giggled as he ate as well

His didnt have as much meat, just not feelin it so he gave it to Dart and ate a lot of the veggies

Nakoa smiled at him and offered a few of her veggies “you more or a fruits or veggies enjoyer?” She leaned forward on the table her large size making it lean the slightest bit

Onyx chuckled “sadly yea. Sometimes I’ll some meats but most times I just give it to the babies.”

“Whats your favorite?”

“Hmm. I’m not sure. Most of the time I just get em all cooked and grilled together. Except onions. Fuck those.”

“Onions make some meat taste so good though. I also really like fish... lemon on some fried fish... ugh i could just devour it whole.”

Onyx smiled slightly “ill make sure to keep some lemons in stock”

“Hell yeah” she leaned back in her chair and wiped food from.her mouth “I might just eat you with it”

Onyx blushed a little but also tried not to show his suspicious and spooked side

Nakoa laughed and finished her food. Once they were back on the ship and sailing she walked up to the edge to just watch as they left the port.

Onyx walked around and got ecerything set up for a long sail adventure.

He made count of the dragons and they were off

A few days passed and Nakoa was swimming around checking our the sea as they went by staying close to the ship of course. They were close to a reef so there were lots of pretty tropical fish.

She climbed back on the ship and made sure Noone was near before shaking herself off like a dog

Onyx noticed and chuckled to himself. He met her halfway on the deck “have tou ever ridden a dragon?”

“I haven’t. Ive not even really seen them until now. Worried i might be a little heavy for them though.”

“No ma’am you are not. You can ride Lidra, the big serpent baby you guys ran into. She is still a babay but she is really strong and more your style anyway”

“Would you... be eith me since I don’t know how?”

“Of course. I can be with you on Lidra or ride next to you on one of the other adults.”

“To be honest im a little scared so id prefer you to be *with* me”

Onyx nodded and got Lidra saddled for two “front or back?”

“Back. I’d like you to be more in control.”

Onyx nodded and climbed up onto the serpents back. He waited for Nakoa and let her get saddled and comfy. “Ready, love?” He asked. He didnt notice his words as he got his gloves on and led Lidra to the end of the ship

Nakoa blushed a little. Because of her blue skin tone her blush was more of a purple-ish blue with a red undertone it was cute.

She held onto his shoulders gently he could tell she was nervous by her strong yet gentle grip. “Yup im ready”

Onyx turned slightly and smirked at her before Lidra basically fell off the ship.

Her wings opened right before they hit the water and Onyx moved her up towards the sky.

Once up to a good height, Lidra just glided across the sky, occasionally being guided around by Onyx

Not too long into gliding Onyx gently patted her leg “you good?”

The initial fall off the ship gave Nakoa a fright and she tightened her grip on onyx moving one hand to his waist and still keeping the other on his shoulder. She moved as close as she could.

Once they were in the sky she looked around amazed and still a little nervous. She was a sea creature used to being under the world not above it.

She nodded her head and spoke softly “I think so.”

Onyx nodded as well and smiled a little as she slowly loosened her grip, not fully lettin go but not as tight.

“Not so scary is it?”

“No its really.. freeing? I guess that’s the right word.” She let go of him with one hand and put it in the air to feel the air before wrapping it around him again. She leaned down and rested her head on his.

Onyx blushed a little and smiled as they continued to glide through the air.

After a minute, he got an idea. “Hold on tight, love” he smiled a little as he led Lidra straight down and slpashed into the water

He let Lidra swim and zoom until he gently tapped her head for her to go up so he could breathe. Once she was out of the water, she coasted along the water surface leisurely

Nakoa gasped and held onto him tightly as they went down. It was amazing and almost romantic as she held onto him tightly but gently

Onyx giggled when they surfaced “well?”

“Amazing!” She smiled happily her sharp teeth showing as she smiled so so big

Onyx smiled even more and hummed “glad you had fun

“I did. It was amazing. And im glad I chose to ride with you.”

One they were back on the ship she subtly hugged him before hopping off the dragon.

Onyx smiled a little before taking Lidra up to her roost and taking the gear off them both

Rinji walked up to Nakoa “where were you?”

Nakoa smiled and put her hands on her own cheeks and blushed a bit “onyx took me on a dragon ride”

“Oooooo, did you like it? Well, him?”

Nakoa blushed and quickly waved her hands in defense “well I won’t say i don’t but once we reach our location because we both sail in different directions there’s a slim chance I’ll ever see him after this. It was an amazing moment though... the sky...” she spun around “his skills augh.”

Rinji giggled “I’m sure he wouldnt mind giving you another ride” they wiggled their eyebrows and smirked

“Another ride... YEAH MAYBE?” She couldn’t tell if it was a serious thought or an innuendo

Rinji laughed a little at her obliviousness, or seemed to be conveyed obliviousness

“He’s so cute and small ” nakoa ran a hand through her hair and spun around a few times

“Small to you, you sea tree” they giggled and stopped Nakoa from goin over the side

Nakoa sighed “okay yeah I really like him but again we’ll probably never see each other again”

“That depends on how long it takes to find a ship. And once we do, if you wanna keep goin with us or stay with him.”

“I couldn’t just leave my crew”

“We would understand”

“Yeah but I barely know him in reality and I know yall a lot!”

“Thats true but who says you cant get to know him while we are here!”

“I guess that’s true.” Nakoa looked around and eventually her sight went towards Lidra’s roost

Onyx was feeding and petting Lidra while praising her

Nakoa sighed a bit and tilted her head as she watched him for a moment before turning back to Rinji without saying anything.

Rinji looked at her confused “whats wrong?′

“I wonder how long I’ll have before we find a ship.”

“Probably a while honestly. Good ships are hard to coome by”

“That’s true.. especially for our purpose.” Nakoa glanced at the roost again to see Onyx had gone.

It was getting dark so everyone was finishing up their chores or jobs and heading to bed. Nakoa went to bed as well but that didn’t last long.

She woke up after having a weird dream so she quietly snuck out and went to a high point on the ship.

She leaned back and watched the sky trying to ignore her dream.

Onyx was walking around as quietly as he could on the deck before ending up at the roost of the ship

Nakoa didn’t hear him and just continued to watch the sky. It was a beautiful clear night with stars twinkling and glowing. A couple of shooting stars almost like a movie. Her eyes lit up as she watched although no one could see.

The next thing she knew, Onyx was perched next to her like a cat gettin ready fo knock shit off the counter

He grinned and poked her side “what are you doin up?” His words were a little slurred

Nakoa jumped a little as she looked over at him “holy shit you scared me. I just woke up and couldn’t sleep so I came to look at the stars.”

Onyx hummed and nodded “sounds fair. Didnt mean to spook ya”

“Why are you up?”

Onyx shrugged “couldnt sleep. Drank a little and was gonna take Lidra for a ride but she refused so here I am”

“Lay back and watch the stars with me then” she gently pulled him to lay down. A little close to her too.

Onyx squeaked as she pulled him down

Nakoa laughed and pointed to a pretty constellation. “Look at that”

Onyx smiled and gave her some miscellaneous info he knew about said constellation

Nakoa looked over at him and watched him as much as she could in the dark.

Onyx got really excited that his secret tism began to show as he kept yapping abiut the statts

Nakoa leaned a little closer “hey Onyx. Yknow... im gonna miss ya when we find a ship.”

Onyx gave her a confused look “really? Why, if you dont mind”

“I just... you’re really cool yknow.” The only light was from the moon. It was shining on their faces slightly so they could see each other a little. Her eyes sparkled in the moonlight as she looked at him almost lovingly.

“Nobody ever says that about me, to be honest. Its always my height or my dragons and usually ends up in someone getting pushed overboard”

Nakoa just raised up and looked at him. She didn’t say anything elsem

Onyx tilted his head in a way the moonlight reflected off his eyes and made them sparkle.

Nakoa leaned a little closer “you should take me on another ride sometime.”

“I would love too”

Nakoa just stared at him for a moment her eyes darting to his lips at least what she could see of them before she turned back to the sky. “Good”

Onyx chuckled and moved around so he was laying down next to her curled like a goddamn cat

Nakoa reached out an arm to pet the top of his head. Her claws scratching slightly in a soothing way.

Onyx purred as she kept rubbing his head

Nakoa sat up and sighed “I guess we should try going to sleep again huh?”

Onyx whined and sat up with her “we dont *have* to. I can always let you ride Lidra”

“She refused earlier didn’t she. Don’t wanna stress her out. I can always come sleep with you” she joked and winked

“She did but you can always try again later or another dragon. But if you wanna sleep with me you can.” He sleep rambled as they began to clomb down

“Wait are you serious?”

“Mhm. Most of the time one of my crew or dragons sleeps in the captains quarters with me”

“I bet it’s cozy in there”

“They said it is. I can make you a pallet on the floor. Wont be very comfy but honestly you cant fit in a bed”

Nakoa laughed and flexed her muscles “yeah my bed on our ship had to be custom built by our carpenter to fit my size and a few others... we have a few tall members hehe... that sounds fun though”

“All good, no biggie. But yea, you can if you want”

The two slept in the same room that night. Nakoa felt a little closer to Onyx but still couldn’t tell him how she felt.
