The Discovery
“What the heck is that?” Shaw Christensen, mission commander of the International Space Station, said in disbelief as he stared out of the window of the airlock chamber.
The rest of the crew stared out the window too, with confusion washing over them.
They had just spotted a tiny meteorite the size of a marble, orbiting the earth. It was an unusual sight for the station, and the crew were stunned that something so small could be detected from this far away.
The meteorite seemed to be getting bigger and bigger as it headed towards the station, and the crew soon realized that it was heading straight for the airlock chamber.
“Quick, everyone back!” Shaw yelled.
The crew frantically ran back and scrambled for cover as the meteorite made contact with the window, followed by a loud crash.
After taking a few moments to calm down and make sure everyone was alright, the group slowly made their way back to the window.
To their surprise, the meteorite was still in one piece, and the crew realized that it had not entirely shattered, as they would have expected.
Beneath the surface of the meteorite, they could make out something unusual. It was alive.
The crew began to realize that they had just discovered an alien life form, completely unknown by mankind before now.
