Chapter 1: The Tip Off
The Tip Off
My name is Robert Johnson, and I’m a rookie journalist at Richard and Brown Inc. I’ve been at it for two months now and I already got my first big assignment. Seemed like a normal story on a political candidate making remarks on a hot button issue.
Little did I know I was being thrust into a much bigger narrative.
My editor, Mrs. Preston, called me in her office as soon as I got to work. She said she had some insider information. Someone had told her that the political candidate was involved in illegal activities. But she had no solid proof to base the story off of, so we had to start digging.
I was both excited and scared. I was sent out with a camera and a backpack of supplies, and I was to begin my investigation. I had no leads and would have to rely on my detective skills and, hopefully, some lucky breaks.
I knew enough to know that this was a major task I was taking on. I was stopped at every street corner asking questions and interviewing potential witnesses to the scandal. It was a long and exhausting day, but I eventually stumbled onto a lead. A whispers and rumors of a secret meeting between the mayor and two other shady characters. Sensing I was onto something big, I set out the following morning eager to get to the bottom of this.
