Prologue

ANDREA DRAKE

When you grow up in a small town with a very close-knit community, it is always very hard to keep anything private in your life. Everyone knows everything about your life and your family it is inevitable. I love our small town, but sometimes you like for your private stuff, to stay private. But there are times that it is a person that wants to keep something private. It is a very sucky type of situation to be in that is for sure.

My brother, Hunter, is actually my twin brother. We are fraternal twins of course. He is the only sibling that I have in my life. Our parents never tried to have any more children after having us. Having twins was definitely plenty of work for them. I mean if you knew us growing up you would SO get it.

Hunter was always getting into something and hurting himself, as a boy does, and I was always out on the farm with the animals causing some kind of ruckus. My brother and I have always been close and stuck together as we grew up and now as we are older, we are still very close. When he was getting into some kind of trouble or getting hurt, I was always there to help him with our parents. Siblings have to stick together, you know.

My brother and his group of friends are now big time Rock Stars in life. They have worked since they were pretty young to get where they are now. Growing up Hunter, Colt, and Trey were always together. Hunter and I were a year younger than Trey and Colt. They did not meet Austin until we were about to be fifteen.

Austin Kidd was such a cocky boy when he moved here, but he was a music lover and son of a Rock Legend, the one and only Shaun Kidd. Do not get me wrong, Austin may have been cocky, but he did have the right to be. Austin is a freaking musical genius. He can play just about any instrument you give him. He knows all of his notes and all the stuff that goes along with writing and producing music. He is pretty freaking talented. It is so fascinating to watch him write lyrics and figure out the melodies and chord progressions in songs. I honestly could sit there hours watching him do his thing. It is quite amazing if you ask me.

Austin moved in with his grandmother who lived across the road from us when we were fifteen. He saw my brother, Colt, and Trey outside playing basketball when they pulled in for the first time. Ever since that day, he and my brother have been the best of friends. He was getting kind of close to being sixteen when he came to live with his grandmother. He was just a bit older but due to his birthday, he had to start school later.

He was in the foster system for about a year until their grandmother was able to legally get them. Austin spent most of his life knowing his mom and his dad. Chloe, his sister on the other hand was never that lucky. The person she knew the best was her brother and their grandmother. Their grandmother ended up raising her from the age of almost eight until her grandmother passed when she was about to be eighteen. Austin as soon as he turned eighteen, he left home to try and live his dreams with my brother, Colt, and Trey at his side. He and the guys got their first record deal when they were nineteen and by the age of twenty, the guys were going on their first tour.

I am so proud of how far they have come in their careers. Yes, they have worked super hard and have barely had any time to come home to their families, but the hard work has gotten them where they are today. Of course, they get small breaks and do get to come home, but all of the guys except Trey have a home in California.

Trey has a place that he stays at here in Mississippi. I have known Trey my whole life and Trey has not had an easy life. From a bad family life to his longtime girlfriend being diagnosed with an illness in little bit after high school and even though she says leave her and move on, he never does. He almost stayed when the guys hit it big, but the guys and Rachel talked him into going. She never wanted him to hang his life up for her, but he has. I am scared Trey is never going to try and find love again. I worry so much about him. We have always been the closest in life, besides me and my brother. Trey’s girlfriend and I used to be very close. We had a falling out in school over a stupid matter and we just both were too pig headed to apologize to the other.

Growing up, our mother and father always begged us to go out and live our dreams. My brother has done that for himself for sure. I on the other hand never really wanted to deal with the spotlight and the logistics of the day to day lives of Rock Stars, but here I am at this very moment doing that. I currently help run the band’s schedule and also on the side do a little managing for them. I came on to help them when their band went out on tour. They kept going through assistants and did not trust anyone that came on to help them. They all discussed it and decided that I would be best fit for them, so here I am.

I have been with this group since I turned twenty-two. Like I said before, this was never what I wanted to do. I actually wanted to go into the nursing field, but I have actually grown to really love this side of the music world. I have never been great at singing or playing instruments like our parents and my brother have been. I always joke with our mother that whenever she was pregnant with us, she and dad gave him all the talent and left me with nothing. That joke never goes over well with her though. She always gets so mad at me and tells me that I may not have gotten that talent, but I am super talented in other things and God did not mean for me to go down that career path. When I was younger, I would always blow that out of proportion and get mad at my mother for saying that but now looking back it was a compliment.

So, when I first met Austin, we did not get along at all. I am sure we will always have that love/hate thing down pat. I can remember the first day that I officially met Austin at school. He did not know that I was Hunter’s sister. I know he had heard Hunter speak about me, but of course he did not listen to my name and never placed me that first day since I was far away from them. Hunter usually went over to Grandma Anderson’s house or they used the room in the barn that my dad set up for Colt, Hunter, and Trey to practice in.

Austin let's just say is super cocky and he thinks he knows everything. He really rubbed me the wrong way the first time I met him. After he knew who I was, things took a weird turn and he started to flirt with me I think, but yet he was being such a butt too at times? Let's just say Austin and I have had a very weird off and on-again type of relationship that no one knows about, and I hope they do not find out about because I am one stupid girl.

Follow along for some insight on my crazy life. I am going to take you back to the beginning first!
