Prologue
She clutches his arm tightly and smiles at the camera. In her opinion, everything should be flawless. There was never a crease in her clothes, not a single strand of hair out of place, and she always had on a single pearl necklace at all times. She conducted herself differently than others. After all, she had to play her role perfectly in the public—the perfect housewife. Even if she didn't have the official title of Mrs. Noel yet. Everyone in her group understood who she truly was, but Emily had one single flaw. If others had learned about her flaw. You know the one buried inside her garden? Would she still be seen as perfect?
Emily has secrets, just like everyone else. She did everything possible to keep them buried. Her garden was her pride and joy. Beautiful flowers, some rare and exotic, adorned her garden. She hosts events throughout the spring and summer to showcase her art. She enjoyed being the center of attention, particularly whenever her garden became a hot topic at parties. She demonstrates her understanding of plants and various flowers. People would even ask, "What type of soil do you use?"
“It’s a very special type of brand,” she would respond.
If one really wanted to take a closer look to see. They would see why it’s so special. But see, Emily doesn’t know stains don’t always wash away completely.
