Chapter 1: The Call to Crusade
The Call to Crusade
The call to crusade came as a surprise to many. To answer the Pope’s call and march against the infidels was considered a great honor, one that many would not refuse.
You, however, felt no such honor. Instead, you felt fear - fear of the unknown. What awaited you ahead on this journey? Would you return victorious, or would you perish for the cause?
Nevertheless, you could not refuse the call, and so you set out on the journey with your compatriots. As you marched across Europe, you encountered many different people and cultures. You saw towns and cities built along holy rivers, temples dedicated to obscure gods, and people that lived far away from the world you knew.
Yet, no matter how different and strange the things you encountered were, your faith remained strong. You never lost sight of your goal: to see the Holy Land, and the victory of your people and your religion.
But the road ahead was long and treacherous, and you had to make decisions. Do you remain on the path, trusting in the guidance of God and hoping to reach your destination? Or do you risk everything and try to find short cuts, taking dangerous detours in search of a swift journey?
You decide to remain on the path and trust in God’s guidance.
