Episode 1 / Season 1 / Right person, wrong time..
The start of university at Yu Bey College, Tate and Haon had no idea they would be attending the same school, neither did Haon care. Haon was always musical and he loved music as if it was his child. He always had this sort of feminine vibe to him, but it was never to the point where he wore skirts or crop tops. Tate, on the other hand, was always artistic and a peaceful person. He never caused any drama or problems unless it had something to do with Haon.
“Catch!” Tate yelled to Haon as they were playing ball with each other. TateHaon was a thing during that time. They loved each other deeply, to the point where they’d kill for each other. Everything was perfect until… Haon’s father found out he was gay and he got in trouble early before school. They talked, and the talk turned into an argument.
“You will no longer see that boy!”
“Appa, that’s not fair! I’m not a child anymore, I can date whoever I want!”
Boom, slap. Haon stood there, frozen as his jaw stung from the impact of the slap his father gave him. He touched his face slowly, tears forming in his eyes while his father’s eyes held rage, disappointment, and disgust.
“You will no longer speak to that boy after today. That’s final.”
“Appa… please, just give me one month to say goodbye….”
His father sighs in disbelief, staring at him for a moment but nods.
“One month, and it’s over. You disgust me, you gay disappointment!”
He storms away, leaving Haon to break down and sob knowing that he’d have to leave his boyfriend behind because of his father. Haon wipes his tears, wouldn’t dare to let Tate see his tears and walked to school with the rest of his tears held back.
“Haon!”
Tate yells from across the street. Haon stops and turne around, seeing tate jogging over to him casually with a soft, gentle smile that was only ever for him.
“Good morning, love.”
Haon smiles, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Good morning.”
“Are you okay? You seem a bit down today…”
“I’m fine, just a little sick on my stomach. Let’s go to class?”
“Race you there!”
Tate says as he dashes off, running with his long legs. Haon laughs and dashes off after him. Despite being shorter, he still won anyway.
“Ugh, you always win, Haon. It’s annoying.”
“Can’t blame me for being faster than you even though you’re taller!”
Tate laughs, genuinely.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let’s get inside before Mr. Hwang gets onto us for being a minute late.”
Haon nods and walks inside with Tate. There were some judgmental stares from other classmates because they were holding hands. Tate didn’t care, Haon did, but since he only had a month left to spend with his boyfriend, he continued holding his hand as if no one was watching. Time passes by, Tate and Haon spend time together. Like, a lot of time. Haon counted down the days he had left with Tate… 1 more day. That day came and it was late at night when Haon texted Tate.
“Hey, Tate.”
“Hi, Hao. What’s up?”
“Can we meet? I wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Sure, we can go to the park if it’s really important.”
“Ok.”
Haon made his way to the park. When he arrived, he saw Tate already sitting on the bench waiting for him. Tate stands with a fond smile and was about to hug Haon, but Haon pushed him away slightly. Tate frowned, disappointed that his lover wouldn’t hug him.
“Everything okay?”
“Tate… I can’t do this anymore…”
“…What do you mean you can’t do this anymore?”
Haon sighed shakily, his voice cracking with each other as tears formed in his eyes.
“Haon, what are you saying-“
“I can’t be with you anymore!”
Tate froze, his face now filled with panic and hurt.
“…Why?”
“Because… I don’t love you anymore…”
Lie. He couldn’t tell Tate the reason why because it would hurt him more than it would hurt Tate.
“We’re not meant to be. We should stop seeing each other.”
“No…wait, you’re joking. Haon, please tell me you’re joking!”
He reaches out, but Haon backs away. He gives Tate the promise ring he gave him back and turns away.
“This ring means we’ll always be together, forever.”
Tate said before, now that meant nothing as it was broken.
“I’m sorry, Tate. Goodbye.”
He walks away, but each step was painful emotionally. The more he walked, the more he wanted to turn back and just fall into Tate’s arms and tell him how much he loves him. Tate stands there, holding the ring and tears falling from his face.
“Haon!”
He yells, but Haon didn’t turn back. Instead, he disappeared around the corner, leaving Tate just as heartbroken as he was. And that’s how this story starts.
