The year was 1793 and France was roiling in turmoil of its own making. The people had pledged their loyalty to the Crown, and yet the country was in a state of revolution, of rising up against the monarchy. You were just a person among the masses, trying to understand what was going on and why it was happening. The newspapers, taverns and streets were alive with song, debate and declarations of loyalty – or refusal of loyalty – to the Crown. You find yourself caught up in it all, trying to make sense of it all.
