As he had a confident swagger as he walked on New Year’s Eve at the nightclub, it was 9.pm without that special someone on his arm for New Year’s Eve eve as he watched young couples walk by, which brought a small tear to his eyes.

As he was sipping his drink, Chris suddenly saw a woman with shoulder-length hair come up to her shoulder, and she had natural curls in her hair. She was wearing a silver, glittery dress that was not backless, and it came up to her feet. Confident young man Chris decided to go over and have a chat with the young woman who was standing on the other side of the bar. With his glass of lemonade in his right hand, he had a confident swagger about him.

Chris gave Trudy a red rose to express what she still meant to him, which brought tears of happiness to willing eyes, and she said this was the sweetest thing anyone done for me. She kissed Chris on his cheek to thank him. As she placed the red rose safely in her silver clutch bag, she kept it over her shoulder at all times.
As the DJ played the first song Just the Way You Are
The song by Bruno Mars was the first song that played when they began dating each other. The two of them could stop themselves from going on the dance floor, where Chris asked Trudy if she acompy him onto the dance floor for this dance, which she accepted his offer for a dance, and they took each other’s hands as they made their way to dance. Chris had his hands around her waist, and she had her hands around his waist to hold each other close, while sharing a romantic dance with each other. As the song was about to come to an end. They shared a romantic kiss on each other’s lips as they looked deep into each other’s eyes, and as the temperature between them rose, their heart rates began to rise once again. As the song ended, they held each other as they made their way back to the bar, where they had left their drinks, and they were still in the same place where they had left them. They were both gasping with thirst for their drink of lemonade after they just been dancing together with each other, and they felt that it become humid and warm in the nightclub.
They both decided to take a seat in the seating area, which featured comfortable seats and a table. What was most important to them was the air conditioning in the ceiling above their heads, which was keeping them cool as it blew, preventing them from getting too hot.
As they both looked at their Apple iWatches, which showed 11 pm. As Trudy and Chris said, there was only an hour until they would be welcomed in the new year 2026 together.
Chris asked Trudy if she would like an in a drink, to which he responded with yes, please. Chris got out of his seat at the table and made his way to the bar, where the barmen asked him what he could get him. Chris replied with please two glass lemonades as he said thank you. As the barman placed two drinks on the bar, the barman asked for the money as the human already had the right change in his hand to give to the baremen who thanked the young man as he took both glasses of lemonade off the bar and went back to his table and placed both drinks on the table, where Trudy thanked him for getting her another drink.
Chris and Trudy got talking about how neither of them worked for the same newspaper organisation, and that they had been working in the same office, as if they had never had the opportunity to work with each other on any news story for the newspaper. As Trudy says, she’s never letting Chris leave her life ever again. Has Chris said something along the lines of I will never let you go to because you were my first and only true love, as it fit like gloves and this brought a tear to her eyes once again. That was so my one I love.
The Stroke of Midnight
As the final seconds of 2025 ticked away, the nightclub erupted into a collective roar. The DJ’s voice boomed over the speakers, “Ten! Nine! Eight!”
Chris and Trudy stood up from their table, their eyes locked in a way they hadn’t been since they were children. The air conditioning hummed above them, but all they felt was the warmth of each other’s presence.
“Seven! Six! Five!”
Chris took Trudy’s hands in his. The shimmering silver of her dress caught the light, reflecting the promise of a fresh start. “Four! Three! Two!”
As the crowd shouted ”ONE!“, the room exploded with cheers and the classic melody of Auld Lang Syne. But for Chris and Trudy, the noise faded into the background. Chris leaned in, and as 2026 began, they shared a kiss that felt like coming home—a promise that the heartbreak of 2025 was finally behind them.
Trudy squeezed his hand, the red rose still safe in her bag, and whispered, “Happy New Year, Chris. I’m never letting go.”
