Chapter 1: Lost in the Desert
Chapter One: Lost in the Desert
I looked out the window of my battered jeep, nervously at the endless, barren desert stretching before me. The sand was an unrelenting orange, a reminder of all the toils of my journey. The sun was beginning to set in the distance, my fuel was running dangerously low and I was, quite frankly, lost. With all of my strength I drove on, unaware of the adventure and mystery that lay ahead.
Suddenly, a figure appeared on the horizon, seemingly coming out of the sand itself. A tall, lean silhouette walking steadily, its skin the same color as the desert around us. I stopped and watched him as he slowly approached my jeep, his eyes hidden behind a long, white veiling.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the figure spoke. “It is a bad thing,” he said in a slow, gravelly voice, “to be lost in the desert.” Taking a step forward he offered his hand. “I can help you,” he said. “But you must follow me.”
Accept the offer, and follow the mysterious figure.
