Chapter 1
A single candlelight was brighter than my life.
“Elara,” my father called me.
I went downstairs. He told me, “You are getting married.”
Out of the blue, he spilled it.
I was in shock and sadness. There, my stepmother and stepsister had evil smiles on their faces.
My mother passed away after giving birth to me. My father considered me an unlucky child. After a few years, he married my stepmother, and then my stepsister was born. My stepmother never liked me; she tortured me in every way. My sister, Luna, used to beat me from childhood. She never considered me her elder sister. And my dad—he never supported me or stood up for me. He treated me like a thing.
He said, “You are getting married to Kael.”
I was utterly shocked after hearing his name. Yes, he is a mafia. He mentioned that I would be getting married to him in two months.
I didn’t say anything. Even if I did, they wouldn’t listen. I simply went back to my room and cried wholeheartedly. I don’t know why my life turned out like this. It’s a mess. I wish even my enemy would never get this kind of life.
After a week, a black car came to my house. My father called me. I went to the living hall and saw a man in a black suit facing away from me. After sensing my presence, he turned toward me.
He was none other than Kael—the man the whole world is afraid of.
He threw a card at me and said, “Buy the wedding dress with this.”
After seeing that, my stepmother and sister nodded immediately, definitely with evil intentions.
He looked at me and nodded his head.
I still couldn’t process that I was getting married to the man standing in front of me. He came toward me. I backed away from him. He held my hand and whispered in my ear, “Hello, babygirl.”
My eyes widened. My blood rushed, leaving me frozen like a statue. His voice was so dominating. After saying that, he left.
POV (Kael):
“Please leave me. I don’t have money now to repay you,” George cried at my feet. “I seriously don’t have money. Instead, I can give you one thing.”
I asked him what.
He said he would give his first daughter. “You can keep her. Please spare my life.”
After a few moments of thought, I said okay. He was shocked by my reply.
Elara—I know her. She once helped me without knowing who I was. After that, I became a fearless man whom the whole world feared.
I told him I would get married to her in two months. He nodded. I told him to go and tell her.
After two weeks, I went to her house to see her. After seeing her condition, my blood boiled with anger. She was pale and sick. I decided that after marriage, I wouldn’t leave her father, stepmother, and stepsister peacefully.
I knew her mother passed away after giving birth to her. They tortured her like hell and treated her like a servant.
I threw a card at her and said, “Buy the wedding clothes.” The two dummies immediately agreed.
I looked at her and nodded. Then I went near her ear and said, “Hello, babygirl.”
I loved the way her blood rushed through her body. After that, I left for my house as I had important work to do at my company.
POV (Elara):
My stepmother acted like a caring mother and said, “Let’s go shopping,” and snatched the card away from me.
We went to the shop. They were more interested in shopping for themselves than for me. They bought very expensive things. I chose one random white dress that actually suited me.
They thought this was a jackpot and bought everything they wanted.
Someone suddenly came very close to my ear and said, “How is the shopping going, babygirl?”
I got chills. It was Kael.
The staff in the showroom bowed to him—he was the owner of the entire mall.
He saw the dress in my hand and told me to try it on. He sat on the sofa as if he was ready to watch a fashion show.
I wore the dress and tried to ask for help to zip it. Unfortunately, God heard my wish, and the next second, Kael entered the dressing room and closed the zip.
I saw him in the mirror and froze like a statue. His hands caressed my back, sending chills all over my body. His touch felt different.
Seeing my reaction, he smirked.
What he did next made me breathless.
He hugged me from behind. His lips brushed my ear as he said, “You are beautiful in this dress. You look like an angel.”
For the first time in my life, someone complimented me.
He then kissed me—I don’t know where it was going. He turned me to face him. We were only inches apart. Our noses touched, and my face turned red.
He leaned in slowly toward my lips…
With love,
