The Life of Phil

This is my life: I’m sleeping in my hole, waiting for spring like everyone else. Then, a pair of clawless paws grabs me and wakes me up. They pull me out of my hole and suddenly I’m being held before this crowd of giants wondering if I’ve seen my shadow. Of course, I see it, it’s morning. It’s like they think seeing my shadow is some indication of the future. At least once this ends, they’ll put me back and I’ll be able to get some more sleep. But in the back of my mind I think, “Every freakin’ year.”
