the setup

Making my way to the all to familiar love Cafe Madeline’s favorite. She was siting at her normal table when i walked in

“hey” i said taking my seat. “Hi how you been?” mads asked puting her phone down.

“Good,good pops has been a little suffocating lately but thats pops” i say with a giggle at the end.

We talked for a bit before the server walked up to us

“hi guys im Lexus and ill be your cupid for the day do you guys need a drink menus?” She asked and i smiled as mads spoke up

“no menus for us but hi laxus love you top can i get a rose tea please” then I spoke “and can i get the love tea of the week please”

laxus pushs a piece of her blond hair back and smiled “of course ladies and may i just say the love tea of the week is a bit strong this week”

me and mads shared a look then laughed “itll be fine thank you tho” mads said and lexus walked away with our order

“so i heard their going to be a live performer here tonight” mads voice sounds soft “oh” i say looking out the window. I’ve found myself always looking out the windows when going in building even as a kid. Or may since his funeral.

“You should go with me i hear shes from the UK” i now face mads “just us or…” her silence told me my answer “ya im good thanks” i said as our cupid come out with our teas

“here’s that for you and the love tea of the week for you. Let me know if you guys need anything” she then walked away

“im serious Thea you need to get back out there girl its been long enough” and i rolld my eyes “fine at least come to ricks tonight for dinner ok six o’clock” mads said “fine if i must” i grumble as i blow on my tea “oh and put something nice on ok we can video chat and get ready together” mads said and i smiled “fine but olny because you know i love doing that”i regrettably said with a laugh

“and remember if you really want someone to talk to you you have act like you have what they want” Madeline said fluttering her eyelashes

“shouldnt i be looking for what i want?” I asked and she rolled her eyes “okay yes but” mads pauses

“im just saying your hot kallithea use that to get what youu want okay” she said and smiled.we talked and drank our tea for almost thirty minutes before she got a text from work saying they need her to get back.we hugged and went ourseparate ways. It was hours after i got home when I was siting on my bed and my phone buzzed.looking at the screen

Me and Mads have been signing along to my playlist.Both doing our makeup well on call with each other. Lowering the volume to talk every once in awhile. “Ugh my eyebrows are not twins” mad ground “lipgloss or no?” I asked looking at my blushed covered nose and cheeks and heavy lined eyes and waterline with blackliner “mmm i think no gloss” mads mindlessly said staring at her brows.I rolled my eyes and sprayed some sitting spray with sparkles in it before checking this time..5:30shit.

“Girl i should leave if i want to get there on time” i say grabbing my phone “oh crap I didn’t realize the time. OK I love you. Be safe.” And with that the call ended and I ordered my car to ricks diner. With some final touches on my hair and outfit I grabbed my bag and locked my apartment door behind me before making my way to the car.

Once at ricks I sit down in a booth next to the jukebox. Madeline still wasn’t here,should i call her? Just as i was pulling out my phone i heard a man clear his throat and i looked up. A tall man id never seen before stood at my booth. “Sorry umm are you Madeline’s friend?”he asked piercing me with his blue eyes.

“Yes I’m Kallithea and you are?” Soon as my name left my lips he sat down in the booth. His eyebrows scrunched together once he process what i said “Did she not tell you?” He asked and now I scrunched my brows “tell me what?”

He ran his fingers through his brown wavy hair before opening his mouth but shuting it soon after. “You better tell me what’s going on before I start screaming kiddnaped loud as i can” i warned and he sat up

“i..im john and Madeline..she set you up with me”he said avoiding eye contact and rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand. He now was leaning back on his side of the booth before his words settled in. “Wait like a date?!” I asked a little louder then necessary. “What are you not single..oh no are you gay if so my bad bro my best wish’s to you” i laughed hard trying to catch my as the waiter walked up to our booth.

“Welcome to ricks diner,im bella here are your menu’s” “thank you” me and him said in unison well taking our menu’s “of course now do you guys want yo start with any drinks?”

I smiled just thinking about a cup of hot tea “can i get a coffee please” his voice smooth “and tea for me please”

“Great choices I’ll be right back with that” she said as she wrote our drinks down before walking off

I looked at the man who sat across from me. Who was this guy and how could mad’s do this to me. “So john was it how do you know madeline?” I ask and our eyes met “met her two or so months ago through my brother” gosh his voice was so deep and manly but strong and smooth all at once. “Oh and how old are you?” I asked honestly scared to hear the answer I close my eyes preparing for him to speak.my ears aren’t met with an answer but a laugh

“I’m 25 kallithea” i try to hold my smile back but cant “I’m 22” i say opening my eyes finding he already looking at me “here are your drink” I jump a little not realizing the waiter had come back “thank you ms” john said and i smiled at her as she walked off.

“My turn to ask questions?” It may seem like a question but his voice made it sound like a command or statement. “Go for it” i say grabing the tea pot of hot water “what do you do for a living?” I put the pot down “im a receptionist and you?” I asked grading for the tea bag basket “I edit grammar and page size font size things like that for books” finding a English breakfast tea bag I smiled then met his eyes “i bet it fun getting to read all those book”

There was a bit of silence but it didn’t feel to awkward. I finished making me tea and started looking at the menu even though i always get the same thing here. The love cafe may be mads favorite but ill always love ricks dinner more. “Im so sorry we are a little busy so ive been runing all over and i forgot to take your order our you guys ready?” The waitress said,someone should get this girl a bell or something

“Can i have the logger special”

“Of course and how do you want your eggs”

“Over easy and no whip on my pancake please”

“You got it and for you sir?”

“Can i get the 8oz steak with steak fries as my side and a icetea for my drink please”

“Alright it will be out shortly”

She walked away and i took a deep breath “so how long have you been single” i ask closing my eyes in fear once more. “Six years..” he had in a low and Hollow voice “you know ive never been here before beesonvill i mean” john said with a little more of a normal tone “really Mad’s growing up here i practically did too because of it” i smiled at the memories

Once our food come out we eat as we talked about the city. I told him my favorite spots and the hidden gems in this city. Even though ive always lived in eclipse city i love this city it my second home. “Ok so since this date was not only a surprise and a bilnd date at that what would have been your preferred date?” His deep voice washed over me and i had to take a deep breath to concentrate. Mads words replayed in my head over and over.

I take one more deep breath as i try and muster up all the courage i can “well if you do well on this date maybe youll find out” i say as confident as i can. I didnt care if his three years older Im not just goting to roll over because he asked. “Oh dont play Koi with me ms kallitea” with my new found confidence fake or not i felt like being blod “its ms.Ashton john” with that he learned forward and rested his arms on the table “its Mr. Bello ms.Ashton”he said like a sin the devil promised you “yes sir” i say with a grin as i grab for the bill but his hand fell to mine as he gently moved my wrist from the bill “dont even think about it” he said grading the bill and leting go of his light hold of my wrist. A chill ran up my spine,stupid body so touch starved it’s trying to cost me myself respect. I just met this man and he was already truning me on in little ways i felt like anna with Hans in frozen.i needed to get control of myself. “I should call my uber” i said standing up from the booth “i could give you a ride if you wanted” he suggested as he also exited the booth. “Its kinda far i live in ash city” i give but he continued “i have to go all the way to fox city it ok” i smiled either he was a creep and about to kidnap me or a real gentleman.
