Are they Alright?

Where was I on that day? I was sitting in the classroom. When on my teacher's computer I saw the news. Two buildings were burning. I didn't understand. But underneath it said that New York had been attacked. That registered, because

of my family there. Distracted for most of the day, the same question rand through my brain, "Are they alright?" Squirming in my seat on the bus, I saw my mom waiting on the porch. I ran over to hug her when she asked me, "Do you know what's happened?" And finally, those words came out, "Are they alright?"
