Chapter 1
There was a deep shadow spread over the roads of Delhi.
The clock had struck exactly 12:00 at midnight.
Siya was walking alone on the silent, deserted street.
The route from her college to the hostel looked even more frightening at this hour of the night.
There was no person, no animal-only darkness and an unsettling silence.
Siya's steps grew faster.
Her heart was pounding.
Her friend had warned her never to go out late at night, but something urgent had come up, and she had no choice but to leave.
Siya (in her mind):
"Oh God! Why did I have to come out at this hour? The whole night is still left... Somehow let this road end soon. I haven't done anything wrong, yet why am I so scared?"
As she passed a lonely corner, she suddenly heard a strange sound-
as if a boy was groaning in pain.
Terrified, she shut her eyes and thought of running away.
But her inner voice told her to stop.
Gathering courage, Siya slowly walked towards the sound.
A little ahead, the sight she witnessed froze her blood.A boy lay on the ground, soaked in blood.
His face wasn't clearly visible in the darkness, but there were deep wounds on his nose and cheeks, and he was breathing with great difficulty.
Siya's hands trembled with fear, but she quickly pulled out her phone and called the police.
Siya:
"Hello? Police station? I'm near City Hospital. There's a boy lying here injured-he's badly hurt. Please come quickly."
The police said they would arrive soon.
Siya removed her scarf and tied it around the boy's wounds to stop the bleeding.
Hospital & Statement
After some time, the police arrived along with a taxi (an ambulance wasn't available).
With their help, the injured boy was taken to City Hospital.
Police officer (to Siya):
"Girl, what were you doing here so late at night? Do you know this boy? How did this happen?"
Siya (nervously):
"No sir... I don't know him at all. I was just going to my hostel when I heard him. I only called you out of humanity."
