LOVE AND DECEPTION

" Their dynamic is honestly one of the most psychologically compelling parts of the story. Ryan is in love with Joe, yet he's also manipulating the very person he cares about the most. That contradiction makes every interaction between them feel tense and tragic. The scene after they sleep together was the first time i ever suspected that it could be Ryan. Joe is emotionally falling apart, blaming himself for failing to stop the murders, while Ryan is standing there knowing he's the real reason for all of Joe's suffering. The guilt, irony, and imbalance of power create a heartbreaking moment. I also liked that the emotional conflict isn't one-sided. Joe's vulnerability and Ryan's internal conflict make the scene far more impactful than if either character were simply good or evil. It raises interesting questions about whether Ryan's love is genuine if he's willing to keep destroying the person he claims to love. Joe genuinely believed that he was the one hurting Ryan, so he chose to walk away, even though it was the last thing he wanted. For him leaving was an act of love, he thought Ryan deserved someone who wasn't so consumed by the case and by his own emotional unraveling. It's more of a tragedy which explores obsession, guilt, manipulation, and self-deception in a way that kept me invested till the end. I am writing this review while i still have a few chapters left because I will probably cry after completing this."
