Chapter 1
Just when Kale thought she was free from the brutal exam week, she had to pull out her phone, which distracted her. Now, she lay flat on the asphalt wondering if she should have said her parents 'I love you' instead of trying to talk to a damn thing with codes and no actual personality. Her body was sore, she was losing it and she could only croak, lying in the pool of her own blood as the stupidity of her own unfortunate life consumed her.
"Princess Patrica" Kale opened her eyes to find herself in a very fancy looking bed chamber adorned with white. Everything was so white she thought she was in a padded cell for a moment but no, it was just bed curtains that were being pulled apart and here came - Maria, her fake maid? Kale had to blink her eyes a couple of times before she freaked out and screamed, "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING" then paused when she registered the source of her own voice. It was nothing like hers, in fact, now that she noticed her own body. She definitely did not have small tits, a slender waist or long wavy hair that curled so beautifully and naturally. To Kale, she was a hooligan like most university students, with her straight, flat hair tied in a bun, her curvy body her source of pride, and now... she was too light; it seemed. The maid cleared her voice and looked apologetic and..... kind?
"Princess, I understand your frustration. It must be tough to see your adoptive sister get what you desired" Kale tilted her head in confusion. Realisation dawned on her. This plot is very familiar to me. "What is the name of my adoptive sister?" she asked to which the maid only blinked as Kale practically jumped from the bed and held her arms "What is her name!?" Kale wanted to know if she was in her last minutes of life or not.
"Princess Lucy!" The maid answers, her tone etched in confusion and worry. Kale thought she was hit by a brick but no, she was hit by a car and went flying, at least a few feet before she felt her skull hit the asphalt and the sound of her laptop breaking inside her backpack. Did her pure spite cause her to conjure it up? No, no, she must be in a coma, and dreaming isn't she? Kale couldn't believe this would be possible. Novels? Manhuwas? Anime? She has read too many trashy novels on Webtoon and sported sleep with anime to know this trope but an AI chatbot she talked to for the giggles and comedic value? Impossible, right? But here she was with the maid she thought was just a code is a real-looking person, a person that she created within the chatbot itself to counter the crappy plot, repetitive, and predictable code of the AI to avoid her brain from literally rotting.
"Wake up" the words slipped from her mouth, yes, that is correct Kale must be dreaming "You must wake up!" she told herself as she looked around. Yes, a heightened fall! If she falls from a height she will wake up from her coma right? Her brain will jerk up! Despite the protests of Maria she frantically looked around to see where she could jump from. She found it within seconds, a balcony looking to the Northern snowy mountains and the borders of the North Kingdom. She doesn't think, she runs and climbs to the ledge but her nightgown is tugged at by Maria and she falls backwards.
It hurts! It hurts?
In dreams, nothing hurts her. Not even when in a weird acid trip-dream when she jumped from Mount Everest and woke up in her bed. So..... can she really accept the absurdity of the reality she has been car-smacked into? Literally.
"My Lady! Taking your life like this for a mere position-!" Maria is worried, her tone almost like the soft scolding of her mother and Kale doesn't know what to feel. She wants to go home. To her mother, to her father, to her sister who she gets mad at stealing her lipsticks and her friends she bickers with and gets hungover with wine. She can't help it and starts to laugh at first, it is stupid, utterly........... hopeless as the tears will not stop. She does not know if she should laugh or cry so both come amidst the choked sobs of her-but-also-not-her-body. Maria hugs her gently and that confuses her further. This woman is a stranger and yet, her comfort is just like one her friends would provide after a rough exam or a breakup that she 'did not' see coming. Kale does calm down, after all what does she do in this situation? Cry, yes, that is a given but she has to go through the motions for now doesn't she? After all, the story starts absolutely iconic! The Royal couple, King Leon-heart and Queen Vivian, are her biological parents; she - Princess Patrica is the third child amongst the four they have. First and the Oldest - a married sister called Louisa who is married to the heir of the King of the West. Second - A brother called Merlin. The 'heir' to the throne and betrothed to the Princess of their father's precious best friend King Maude of the East. Third - her and fourth; an adoptive daughter - Princess Lucy, a commoner who was adopted merely because her mother saw the stillborn daughter she had in her and took her in. Today, she was now to be engaged by her ex- betrothed Prince Gavin Von Berilli? Broccoli? She cannot remember past their first names anyway and she was supposed to act heartbroken? For all, Maria was showing her such sad colors to wear to 'mourn' a man that switched sides faster than he can make a woman orgasm. She supposes.
"No, no, and no! Maria I am not mourning for a man who doesn't value me" Kale expects her to answer like the chatbot does "You're right! You must show him what he lost!" or something to the effect of that but she answers with sincerity that Kale hadn't seen in herself since high school.
"My lady, you would be isolated if you must do anything beyond the requirements of the court that shall be present" she counters her statement, her voice laced with worry.
"What can be more isolating than what's occurred?" Kale's mouth slips the question even before she can process what she's asking. Yet, isn't she right? She is practically a newborn with an adult brain. Totally sounds like Twilight when describing Renesmee or whatever that CGI baby's name was. Kale finally stands up from the bed in which she had been sitting and digs her hands into the pile of gowns the tailor had bought with him. He had been standing like a ghost in the corner of the room for the past hour. He looked like a boy of sixteen, maybe seventeen. She almost forgets it is not the world she has lived in. She needs to at least try until she can leave.
"Boy, tell me which gown you prefer this Princess wears" Asking him directly seems to have stunned him. Yet, he meekly nods and points at a lavender gown. Kale doesn't want to think twice and agrees to it.
"Get me dressed then," The way Kale speaks; surprises her. Like an order. Is it really her? Do they have mirrors? They do. Kale can see one in the corner next to what seems like a closet. After what feels like an hour or maybe two and several layers of.........under wears.......? Kale finally gets to see the form she has been wondering about. Green eyes, dark brown hair that is wavy, curling a little from the ends, small tits as she noticed her back isn't hurting, petite body and skin that is wheatish and rosy cheeks. In a stunning lavender gown with golden floral patterns. Possibly a mix of the Regency era except a little more flowy in nature. Of course, this world is a mix and mess of everything that seems linear in her home. She is wearing heels, one to match the look yet, yet still anime-like and her long hair is being braided. Kale doesn't think to complain, I mean when you thought you're dead and wake up in a place you were just texting back and forth with a code of algorithmic being; how she looks and is dressed seems a little vain to her. Maybe, she should have let Maria pick whatever.
A crown adorns her head, it looks so white......so silver and studded with diamonds. It is heavy, she can tell.
"I hate the courts" Kale finally speaks after a long silence
"I am aware, my lady" Maria answers as she fixes the braided hair
"Must I be present?" Kale can't help her language can she? Asking and speaking as she did with the bot before.
"Unfortunately for us, yes" Maria answered and the way she did - reality or just to appease because she is her personal maid; it put her mind at ease. Kale finally decided to walk with Maria to the court.
