Summary

Tara Lennox is done being a "safe bet." After five years of playing the supportive, predictable partner to a man who didn't deserve her, the prestigious gallery curator is finally purging the clutter from her life, starting with her ex and her closet full of oatmeal-colored sweaters. At thirty, Tara isn't a girl waiting to be found; she’s an experienced woman who knows exactly what she’s worth. But when she moves into a new apartment and catches the eye of the intense Adrian Moreau and his mercurial artist brother, Dorian, she realizes that "starting over" doesn't have to mean playing it safe. The Moreau brothers don't want the composed version of Tara the world sees. They want the raw, wrecked, and free woman beneath the surface. As she is drawn into their world of dark art and high stakes, Tara must decide if she’s ready to trade her hard-won stability for a passion that threatens to consume everything she’s built. In a world where everyone wants to own a piece of the Moreau legacy, Tara is the only one who doesn't need their name to feel powerful. But as shadows from her past resurface, she’ll have to fight to stay above water, literally and figuratively.

Close enough to burn

Dedication

To the women who are done being “safe.” To those who have already lived, loved, and learned that sometimes you have to burn down the beige life you were told to want to find the fire you were meant to lead. This is for the ones who know that experience isn’t a stain, it’s the ink of a masterpiece.
