Summary

I’ve come to believe that the people who cross our paths aren't accidents; they are 'sessions' for the soul. There are three types of meetings that shape us: The Mirror: Some people meet us to show us who we are. They reflect our light and our shadows, helping us see the 'Soft Side' we didn't know we had. The Storm: Some people meet us to break our old habits. They are the 'bloody head' and the 'mess' that forces us to find our own rudder. The Horizon: These are the rarest meetings. They don't try to hold us back like an anchor; they teach us how to look forward at the long drive ahead. I used to think he was my horizon. But looking at the red thread on my finger, I realize he was the storm. He broke me so that I could learn I am worth everything, even when I have nothing."

Chapter 2: The Anchor and the Ache

The Opening (Writing for Chapter 2):

"I am sitting on the edge of my own mind, much like the girl on my cover, fishing in a dark sea of memories.

Most people my age are looking for answers in textbooks, but I am looking for the stars I lost along the way. His name is the biggest star—the one that shines the brightest and hurts the most to look at. I hold the fishing line tight, feeling the pull of the 'Past.' It would be so easy to let the water take me, to fall back into the 'Ache' of what we used to be.

But then I remember my 'Willingness.' I am not fishing to catch the past; I am fishing to see it, honor its fragrance, and then let it swim away. I am thirteen, and I am learning that you can love a memory without letting it drown you."
