City Of Vampires

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Vampires and werewolves. Two species that don't get along well. Werewolves used to rule the forest. Until vampires learned the ways of wolves. They took over and now keep werewolves trapped as wolves and enslave them. They are treated like crap. Terigen and Tayla are looking for a wolf to take in. That's when they find one in confinement who has been sent back every time. Kayden is different. He looks the same as any other wolf. But looking to close can cause someone to die. This is my first story and it is unedited!! NOTE: This is not a smut story! It is suggested/implied but it is not described. This is intended to be a LGBT+ fluff story.

Cells (TAYLA)

Owning a wolf. I hate the idea. But unfortunately, it’s mandatory. They claim it’s a good thing, but I can find so much wrong with it. They claim that it’s for the better good of the city and will make it much safer. None of that is true.

“Come on. It’s going to be fine.” My husband whispers to me. He takes my hand in his, intertwining our fingers together. He hates the idea too, but again we don’t have a choice.

I look up at him and smile. My voice is soft. “Of course it will be.” He smiles back, then leans down and places a kiss on my head.

We have been avoiding getting a werewolf for so long. The lord of our city came to our house and personally told us that we have to get our wolf from the next batch that’s captured.

That batch came in last night. They found a new wolf city. They raided everything from that damn city; leaving nothing but walls and buildings in ruins.

The wolves are kept underground in big cells. They are forced into muzzles and collars that restrict their magic.

There are lots of other vampires coming in today. I don’t like it.

I’ve been down here before. I wish I didn’t have to come back.

People in white lab coats usher us around. They show us multiple cells, each one having different chained and muzzled wolves. Other vampires around us bid on them before no one else is trying to bid higher than the highest bidder.

Cage after cage. wolf after wolf. Bid after bid.

It’s not until we come across one cell at the back. A black wolf (bigger than the others) lays alone on the stone floor.

“This one is a problematic boy, everyone has sent him back, traded him for another.” Says the host. “Any takers?”

People whisper among themselves, but no one raises their hand.

There is something about this one. Maybe it is the way his dark fur glistens in the light while still looking darker than the night sky. Or maybe it is the deep red of his eyes when he lifts his head and glances around at all the people. None of the others have red eyes; they are yellow or green. But this one seems different to me.

“I want him.” I whisper to no one in particular. I see Terigen glance over at me.

“Are you sure?” He asks. He squeezes my hand gently.

I nod. “Yes.” I reply.

Just as everyone’s whispers start to die down, Terigen speaks up, making the bid, and the whispers return.

“Wonderful!” The host says. He looks down at a clipboard in his hands and marks something down.

As everyone else continues, I go closer to the cell that holds the wolf.

Terigen puts his arm around me as we watch the wolf put his head down, lifting it slightly because the muzzle is uncomfortable. He keeps doing that until he finds the right spot; closing his crimson red eyes.

“Tayla! Terigen!” We turn our heads at the sound of our names; the lord of our city approaches. “You did show up!” He laughs.

I smile. “Of course we did.” I reply. “We didn’t have a choice.” I say, a hint of disgust in my voice.

He laughs again. I hate it. I have to force myself to not scowl. I’ve never liked this guy.

He looks at the wolf in the cage and frowns. “Umm, Tayla,” he glances at me then back at the wolf, “are you sure about this one?”

I nod. “Of course. Is there a problem?”

He hesitates, then shakes his head. “Just, umm, this one is a little... problematic.”

I shrug. I don’t care.

He glances at Terigen, who’s looking around, clearly distracted. “Don’t try taming this one, ok?”

“I’ll do whatever I want.” I say leaning closer. “Besides, if you didn’t treat these poor creatures like shit, maybe they would be nice back.”

I turn away and grab my husband’s arm. “Let’s go, love.”

He snaps out of trance, looks at me, smiles and follows me. I glance back and glare at the city lord.

I’ve never liked him very much, and he knows it.

That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to making him look like a fool.

I did it once before. I can definitely do it again.
