The desolate city before you wails in the metallic dirge of anguish, echoing through the skeletal remains of what once bore the trappings of mankind’s splendor. In the cold shade of its crumbling edifices, you wander like a specter, a lone anomaly amidst a sea of stark oblivion. Each step forward sends a puff of ashen fragments into the air, billowing out like ephemeral ghosts of the past. With each crunch beneath your boots, memories of civilization are ground into the dust.
Beneath the muted glow of a twilight sun, shadows twist and writhe, forming grotesque shapes around you. They seem to bear cruel witness to your existence, the dying gasp of a reality irrevocably obliterated. You stifle a shudder as you push forward, on and on, till the contours of the city dissipate into the murky horizon.
The air grows colder, a bitter chill sinking deep into your bones until it takes hold of your very soul. Your only company is the howl of the wind, whipping past you with an icy fury that gnaws at your already dwindling resolve. Familiar and alien all at once, the silence wraps around you with an oppressive weight, an intimate dance that mimics the malevolence of your haunting solitude.
As night descends and cloaks you in its unforgiving embrace, you can’t shake off the feeling of unseen eyes watching you in the darkness. The city, the ruins of tomorrow, seems to be coming alive...or rather, awakening a beast that has been slumbering, waiting patiently for its next prey.
