The Sunghoon Paradox

Summary

Sunghoon Park is the worst. He is constantly finding ways to irritate me. We don't even compete against each other, what is his problem? When a fierce arguement on the ice between us goes viral, our team gets a lucrative sponsorship-on one condition: that Sunghoon and I pair up as ambassadors for their company. Which means learning to skate in a pair, something I have never done. And attending their events as a couple. I like to think I am a good actress, but this is pushing it. The more time I spend with the Ice Prince, though, the more I see a different side. A hotter side. God help me, I need to focus. I want to go to the Olympics before I am too old. It's bad enough I have to do the pairs and keep up my solo skate, I don't need his kind of distraction.

Chapter 1

A/N: You can find all of my stories on Wattpad. I decided to post this one first since the Winter Olympics are next month and that is featured in this one.

“All you think about is skating.” Woojin says, running his hands down his face. His hair that has been dyed mint falling into his eyes. I watch as the girl in his room sticks her head out, fully dressed now, and exists, not looking at me as she does.

“And that’s a reason to cheat.” I nod, trying to keep the anger that is boiling inside me at bay.

“I never see you! You are either working out or on the ice. Do you know how many dates you have canceled this month?”

“Then break up with me or talk to me about it!”

“I tried talking to you, Y/n. It’s always some competition or content for your channel. I am always your last priority.” Woojin shrugs, standing up. “I doubt you would have noticed if I had broken up with you.”

“I can’t believe you are blaming me for this.” I shake my head as my phone dings with a text. I know it is Jungwon or Sunoo wondering where I am.

“Go on and check it. They are waiting for you at the rink, right? Another TikTok has to be filmed.” He is standing by the door now, opening it. “Just go, Y/n. We are done.”

I stand up, heading out of the door he is holding open. He slams the door behind me, leaving me in his dorm hallway wondering what just happened. Did I just find him cheating and he dumped me? Shouldn’t I have been the dumper?

My phone rings now and I wipe my eyes quickly before answering it, running toward the door, dodging random guys in the hallway.

“Sorry sorry, I am coming.” I tell Jungwon on the phone.

“You are never late.” Jungwon says, sounding concerned.

“I know. I had a minor inconvenience, but I am coming.” I jump over the last three steps, trying to save as much time as possible. This break up has already taken up so much time in my schedule. “Get set up and I will be there in five.”

“Tell her,” I hear Sunoo say and Jungwon sighs.

“Also,” he clears his throat. “Sunghoon is here.”

“Why?” I almost stop my pace, but I need to get there. “I have the ice rink reserved!”

“We told him that…” Jungwon starts. “You will see when you get here.”

This makes me run even faster. I almost run into several people, angry shouts following behind me, but I don’t care. I need to get to the rink and get that jerk off my ice.

I enter the rink and change into my skates, shedding the jacket I am wearing, handing it to Sunoo. I wear a pair of purple leggings and a purple long sleeve top. Jungwon and Sunoo nod toward the rink where Sunghoon Park is skating.

“I am not in the mood for this today.” I mutter as I glide onto the ice, skating up to him. “I have the rink reserved, Park.”

“You reserved it for the figure skating team.” He corrects me. There is a rule at the college rink that a single person cannot reserve the rink, only teams. Therefore I reserve it under the figure skating team for an hour three times a week to film my content. Everyone on the team knows and respects this. Everyone, but him.

“Get off the ice. I have content to make.” I say, pointing off the ice. I only have forty minutes left now thanks to Woojin.

“No.” Sunghoon smirks, pushing my forehead with his index finger. “Film around me, I am practicing.”

“Your music will clash with mine and I don’t want my viewers to have to look at you.”

“They look at you, don’t they? I think they would prefer to look at someone as handsome as I am. A refreshing change.” He say, skating around me in a circle. I am going to kill him. I can see the headlines now.

“Y/n, we are running out of time.” Sunoo calls from the sidelines.

“Fine.” I skate back to Jungwon and Sunoo. “We will have to add the music in editing so his doesn’t make it sound awful. And try to film around him.”

“We will try.” Jungwon nods. “Are you ready?”

I skate out into the rink a little and go from my beginning pose. I nod to Sunoo to start the music. I skate to popular k-pop songs and put it on Tiktok. I actually have a solid following.

The song starts, the new TxT song that has been circling Tiktok and I begin the routine I made for it. Though as I am getting ready to do a jump, I see Sunghoon headed directly toward me.

I don’t have time to move. He nods to me, as if I am supposed to know what that means. He is going to jump, I see it. I go down into a cantilever before we collide and he jumps over me, our eyes meeting for a split second while he is in the air. This cocky asshole.

I come up and do my finishing spin before erupting.

“Stop filming!” I yell to Jungwon.

I skate up to Sunghoon, who is on the wall laughing now. I shove him hard.

“You could have injured the both of us. Are you crazy?”

“Go back and watch that. I made your video better.” He points to Jungwon. “You got the message.”

“What if I hadn’t? What if we had collided?”

“I would have caught you. You weren’t in any danger, I am extremely good at this.”

“I hate you.” I say through gritted teeth, my hands in fists by my side. “Next time you better not be here or I am taking it up with Coach Woo.”

I don’t wait for him to respond. I skate off the ice.

“Use one of our backlog videos.” I say to Jungwon, taking off my skates. “We will try again when he isn’t here.”

“It turned out pretty good…” Jungwon turns the phone to show me and I shake my head.

“What he did almost ruined both our careers. I don’t want to see it.” I pull on my jacket, picking up my bag. “Don’t use it.”
