Prologue
If you have a predilection for sadism, and if you especially love torturing children, then my advice is that you should become a teacher!
I would love to imitate the works of Roald Dahl and Charles Dickens in their descriptions of corporal punishment in English schools and the various instruments of torture used by teachers. For those readers who enjoy such sadistic pleasures regarding the torture of children using diverse instruments, they can read Dahl’sMatildaand his autobiographical novel,Boy. Dickens’Nicholas Nicklebyis also a good read if you are looking for such ‘excitement’. If you enjoy these books, you will soon find out that they pale in comparison to the works of Marquis de Sade, in which he lists abundant ways of torturing children, and copious types of instruments of torture, the one better than the next at inflicting pain on defenceless child victims.
The reader might think I’m getting carried away here, or that this is all in the distant past. Well, it’s not in such a distant past that the former British prime minister, Mr B liar , admitted to sadistically enjoying smacking his own children, and having wet dreams about murdering innocent men, women, and children (based on a lie).
However, we don’t have to go back to the twentieth century. The Welsh, in 2022, have finally realised that physically abusing children is a criminal offence (perhaps half a century after this was deemed illegal in a ‘minority’ of ‘advanced’ countries around the world – but as they say, perhaps better late than never).
