Chapter 1 His contract wife
The night was quiet in Brooklyn — too quiet for the storm brewing inside the Turner home.
Leona stood by the door, listening as her father’s trembling voice filled the small living room.
“Please, Mr. Cole… just give me a little more time.”
Adrian Cole sat in their old armchair like it was a throne that didn’t belong there — his black suit sharp against the cracked walls. His expression didn’t change. His gray eyes were calm, lifeless, and merciless.
“Time?” he repeated softly. “You’ve had two years, Mr. Turner. I don’t lend time. I lend money — and you owe me three million dollars.”
Grace Turner, Leona’s mother, stood frozen in the corner, clutching a rosary in her hand.
“Please, sir, we’ll find a way—”
“There is no ‘we,’” Adrian interrupted coldly. “There’s only debt. And debt requires payment.”
Leona stepped out from the hallway, her heart pounding.
“Mr. Cole, my father can’t pay that. He doesn’t have that kind of money.”
Adrian’s gaze moved to her slowly, like a predator noticing movement.
“Then perhaps he should’ve thought of that before taking my investment.”
Leona clenched her fists.
“He made a mistake. You can’t destroy his life for that.”
“I can,” Adrian said simply. “And I will.”
Her father’s voice cracked.
“Wait—there’s… there’s another way. Take her.”
Leona froze.
“Dad… what?”
Michael Turner couldn’t look at her.
“You said you wanted something worth the money. She’s all I have.”
Grace gasped, covering her mouth.
“Michael, no!”
But Adrian said nothing. He only looked at Leona — studying her face, her trembling hands, the fire behind her fear.
“You’re offering me your daughter to clear a debt?” Adrian asked, his voice low, unreadable.
Michael’s voice broke.
“Yes… please. Don’t ruin us.”
A long silence filled the room. Adrian leaned back, expression still cold.
“I don’t buy women, Mr. Turner. I make contracts.”
He turned his gaze to Leona.
“What about you, Miss Turner? Do you agree to your father’s offer?”
Leona’s lips trembled, but her eyes were fierce.
“If it means saving my family… I’ll do it.”
A faint smirk curved his mouth — cruel and unreadable.
“Brave. Or foolish. You’ll find out soon enough.”
He stood, towering over her.
“Pack your things. Tomorrow, you’ll move into my penthouse. You belong to me now — until the debt is paid.”
Grace fell to her knees, sobbing.
“Please, she’s just a girl—”
“Then she should learn quickly,” Adrian said, his voice cold as steel.
Leona looked at her parents, her heart breaking into pieces — but she lifted her chin anyway.
“If this is what it takes, I’ll survive it.”
Adrian’s lips twitched in something that wasn’t quite a smile.
“We’ll see.”
He walked out into the rain without another word, his car disappearing into the night — leaving silence, guilt, and a deal that would change everything’s
