Night out

It was a rough night in Las Vegas. The night air felt cold against Aeolus’s skin. She was severely underdressed, only wearing a skimpy skirt and the smallest tube top. It was Liam’s favourite outfit. The wind blew against Aeolus’s crimson hair. The billboards shone brighter than usual, she just wanted it to be dark for once. She waited for Liam; he promised to pick her up from the club. Liam was almost late, but it had been an hour since she heard from him. He was never this late.

Aeolus gave up on waiting for him and decided to walk home. She could barely walk, her heels feeling like thousands of tiny knives stabbing into her feet, which had long gone numb. She already probably knew what Liam was doing. He always drank himself into unconsciousness. It was nothing knew, Liam told her that it was his student debts bugging him, but something felt wrong. Extremely wrong. Aeolus just ignored it and kept walking, the blisters starting to open. The pain started becoming excruciating.

Tears welled up in her eyes, the pain was unbearable. She took out her phone and called Liam. She waited for about 30 seconds before he answered. Liam’s voice came out in almost a low, guttural growl. “What the hell do you want?” His speech was slurred; he was clearly intoxicated. “I thought you were picking me up...” Aeolus susurrated. Tears were now flowing freely. “Why do you have to be such a pain in my ass?! You're a grown woman. Figure it out. God, it’s your fault for going out in the first place. I’m not your fucking butler.” Liam sneered as the line went silent.

Aeolus buried her face in her hands. The blisters on her feet starting to bleed. She could barely walk, every step feels like stepping on glass. She checked the time. It was 1:09 AM. The sky now as dark as can be. She knew she had to get home soon, if she didn’t, Liam would be even more pissed. Her pace quickened, blood trickling with every step.
