Dream vs Reality

The dream always starts the same. I’m in the middle of the woods, standing next to the largest tree I’ve ever seen. It must stand at least 100ft tall, and about 5ft wide. All of the trees around me have leaves with an array of colours, consisting of browns, oranges, and yellows. That’s all except the one I’m standing next to of course. The huge tree is completely bare, the bark almost black in colour. The branches look like hundreds of hands reaching up into the moon lit sky.

I walk around, my hand gently caressing the tree as I go. That’s when I see him. The tall stranger, with eyes as blue as the sky on a clear summer day. His auburn hair is short at the sides and longer at the top with a fringe that curls. It almost looks like he’s just gotten out of bed, but my goddess does it suit him. He holds his hand out to me; a soft smile crosses his face as I reach out to take it. We both search each other’s eyes, almost feeling complete. Almost. Right when I’m about to take his hand, I startle awake feeling like my heart has been broken a hundred times over. This happens every single time.

Ellesse

The black widow pack is where I call home, but as an omega it doesn’t feel like home to me. Like all other omegas I am weak. Born to serve my pack in any way I’m asked to. Tonight is the winter ball and all the elites below the southern border will be attending. We have been at war with the northern packs for 3 years now and things finally seem to be settling down, as if the end is near.

I just hope that I might meet someone special over the next few days. This will be the first gathering of this size since the war started. I am yet to meet my mate; I wonder what he will be like? I wonder if he will be the man that visits me when I’m deep in sleep every night?

“Ellesse! What have I told you about your day dreaming?” Luna Jessica screeches at me, snapping me out of my thoughts. “I’m sorry Luna” I say quietly, lowering my head in submission. “I need you to be paying attention whilst I give out the assignments for tonight” she says before tuning her attention back to the rest of the group.

Luna Jessica is the picture of pure beauty. The moon Goddess blessed her with such striking features that every wolf that sees her cant look away. Her silky raven hair cascades down back in perfect curls. Her eyes are a stunning emerald green that can make anyone’s knees weak. Her lips are plump, and her nose is the perfect size.

The Luna’s personality, however, is a whole other all game. Her looks may be that of beauty, but on the inside, she is rotten to the core. The scars from whip marks on my back, the burn marks on my arms, or the bruises up my legs are strong evidence on the cruelty she inflicts on anyone of her picking. It always seems to be me, though. Since I tuned 21 two months ago and my wolf emerged, she hasn’t left me alone.

“…and Ellesse”, the Luna’s mention of my name has me pulled back into the room. “You will be waiting tables and be responsible for taking out the bins when necessary. Great, I thought to myself. I have to go outside in the freezing snow. I don’t know why she hates us so much I say to Christina, my wolf. She’s just jealous, I’ve noticed Alpha Kaden’s eyes lingering a little too long when we pass him my wolf chuckles.

The thought disgusts me. Alpha Kaden and Luna Jessica may not be fated mates, but they sure are perfect for each other. The Alpha is a short wall of muscle, standing about 5foot7. His black hair is long, often styles in a neat man bun. His eyes are a grey shade but look lifeless as if he has not a single emotion. He, if possible, is crueller than the Luna. A match made in hell if I ever did see one.
