Just when life seemed perfect, everything went wrong. Prologue

“You think only you can bite, huh?”

He lowered his face to her neck and sank his teeth into her skin. Her eyes widened as a heart wrenching scream echoed in the room. Tears flowed endlessly down the side of her face almost like a flood that could drown her.

Her own scream nearly choked her. She thrashed her arms around ever so hard but soon everything stopped. Her feelings, thoughts, the movement of her arms. Everything stopped.

“I hate you…”

Her voice came out, weak and trembling.

“But I actually love this version of you, Ezlyn," he hissed near her ears, “weak and fragile.”

She saw blood dripping from his teeth as his lips twisted in a sinister leer.

“Now, the most fun part begins…”

His words turned into darkness that seeped into her body like a snake.

She wanted to keep resisting but she couldn't move. Her neck was throbbing with pain. Her whole existence ached for relief. She felt like she was about to die. And for a moment, death actually seemed easier. And kinder.

She closed her eyes as the light in the room faded, and along with it, the fragile veil of hope she'd been holding onto.
