TAYLOR
"This town reeks of fresh, untouched blood..." I thought as I drove in my new town with the windows down. Their scents are so strong I can feel my mouth salivating. I gripped my hands on the steering wheel as I felt the urge to just strike right now.
"Stop it...you have to wait...you don't want to rush this..." I thought as I made a turn and drove into my new neighborhood. I was glad that this town was usually cloudy most of the time, or I’ll probably have to use a parasol. I kept my eyes looking forward, but occasionally side glanced to see if anyone was outside. I saw a few kids playing on the sidewalk, a few people getting their mail, and others tending to their lawns.
"Quite a lively neighborhood...might be a bit of a challenge feasting..." I thought as I parked my car on my new driveway. I got out of my car and stared at my new home. It was small and a bit run down house, but it was cheap enough. Plus, I wasn't really planning to live here permanently.
Last night I moved my belongings inside, not wanting any nosy neighbors getting curious as to what I was bringing. They would have gotten suspicious if they ever saw me struggling bringing my cauldron inside. With a deep breath I made my way inside my new home and closed the door behind me. I then suddenly heard someone shouting outside. I stayed where I was and kept silent, but then shrugged when I didn't hear anything else.
I made my way to the kitchen, turned on the lights, opened the fridge, and pulled out a blood pack. "God I'm so hungry..." I thought as I opened the pack and started to slurp it up. I did have "regular" food, but I only eat that when I have guests around. If I were to eat it I'll just throw up. Plus, it doesn't stand a chance with blood. But I had to get some more packs before they run out and I'm left with nothing.
Once I finished drinking I threw away the bag in the trash and made my way to the basement door. I opened the door, closed it behind me, and made my way down the stairs. It was a bit of a mess in here, there were unopened boxes I needed to unpack. I started to look through the boxes to try to find a map of the town. After a few minutes I eventually found it inside my spell book. I unfolded it and laid down on my table. I looked through the map, contemplating where I should strike first.
"Hmm...maybe I should strike downtown at night..." I thought as I used a pin to pin downtown. "But first...I need to wait before striking...I don't want anyone to figure me out..." I thought, right before I heard the doorbell ring.
JESSE
I was getting the mail outside my front porch when I noticed a car driving up to the house next to mine. That house has been on the market for a while and it seems someone finally is moving in. It was the most rundown house in town and nobody wanted to buy it until now. I watched the new owner get out of their car and head inside the rundown home.
"Yup...they are definitely from out of town...probably from some big city by the looks of it..." I said as I looked up and down at the clothes my new neighbor was wearing. I slowly made my way inside, still eyeing my new neighbor before I slammed my face first into my front door and dropped my mail. I mumbled a curse as I bent down to pick up my mail and then stood up.
I started to look around to see if anyone saw and noticed my other next door neighbor looking at me. "STOP LOOKING AT ME, HARRY!" I shouted out of embarrassment before opening my front door and closing it behind me. "At least my new neighbor didn't see that embarrassing display..." I thought as I made my way to my couch, plopping down, and started to look through the mail.
"Bills...junk mail...junk mail...junk mail...bills..............oh, a letter from grandma..." I thought as I threw the other mail to the side and opened my grandma's letter. The thing about my grandma is that she's quite...old fashioned. She does everything the "old school" way as she puts it.
What I mean by that is she doesn't use the internet, she doesn't use smartphones, she doesn't use TV, not even a house phone. She thinks everyone is "being manipulated" by the government with technology. She's very...crazy to put it lightly (she was a hippy throughout the 60s and still is). I still love her, but she does get out of hand once in a while. I took a deep breath to prepare myself for whatever nonsensical things she wrote before slowly opening the letter and read what was written.
Surprisingly, it was normal...at the beginning. It was a simple "hi" and "how are you" with recent updates on her well being, until she started to talk about her conspiracy theories. It was two pages long, so I just skimmed through them until I read her last paragraph of staying watchful for vampires. She always reminds me to be watchful from those blood suckers. Not everyone knows about vampires, since they only dismiss it as just some "myth". But for me, I've encountered numerous vampires since my teenage years.
Then I started to think back on my new neighbor...what if they're a vampire? I mean, I only saw them briefly before they went inside their home, so how can I fully know? I stood up and started to make my way to my bedroom to change into something casual. I wanted to look at least presentable on my may-or-may-not-be-a-vampire neighbor. I checked in my mirror to smooth out any wrinkles on my clothes, fixed up my hair, then left my room and headed to the kitchen. Since I am going over to their house I might as well bring a fruit basket as a welcome gift. I gathered up all the fruit I needed, washed them, got a basket, and started to arrange them.
After about a few minutes of arranging them to look perfect, I was left satisfied with the end results, and made my way out. I clutched the basket near my chest as I made my way to their front door. I stood in front of their door, took a deep breath, rang their doorbell, and silently waited for them to respond.
