Chapter 1 - the man who burned a kingdom

I I don’t know why people tremble when they see me.

Maybe it’s the way they avoid my eyes.

Maybe it’s the silence that follows my footsteps. Or perhaps it is simply the blood that runs through my veins. My name is Jabhari. People say fear recognizes its own kind—and when they look at me, they see my bloodline, not my face. They don’t see who I am today; they see what my family once was... and what I have done in the past.

In the market square, mothers pull their children closer when I pass. Merchants lower their eyes. Even the dogs do not bark at me. They watch. They wait. As if expecting something terrible to happen.

I never knew my grandfather, but my father spoke of him as if he were both a legend and a curse.

“He was the most wanted man of his time,” my father once said. “The most dangerous soul history has ever known.”

They say my grandfather destroyed an entire kingdom for love—without suffering even a single wound. In those days, he fell in love with my grandmother. It was a love that defied rules, status, and mercy. When he first saw her, she was not free; she was a slave in the kingdom of Bhanjar, owned by a cruel ruler named Sri Pati.

My grandfather went to the king not with a weapon, but with humility. He asked for her freedom. Sri Pati responded with humiliation. That single moment changed history. My grandfather declared war on Bhanjar alone.

“The king’s laughter echoed through the throne hall, careless and loud — until it slowly faded into something thinner.”

When he killed, he looked like a monster. He crushed skulls with his bare fists, and the soldiers became too terrified to face him. In the end, he cooked the flesh of the fallen and ate it, fully bathed in their blood. His fists alone were enough to destroy a kingdom. Sri Pati began to doubt he was even human; fighting him was a one-sided slaughter. The fear the soldiers felt is a fear we can still feel today.

For four days, Bhanjar burned. Thousands of soldiers marched against him with swords, spears, and axes. Yet he stood unmoving—calm, relentless, and unstoppab
