The Suspicious Beginning
Six friends sit in an abandoned church looking at each other with baited breath. The silence between the friends speaks volumes to the point you could probably hear a pin drop. It’s Rory who speaks first, “Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Narcissa facepalms in frustration. “For the last time, we don’t exactly have a choice.” Ariana chimes in, “There’s always a choice. I know this was technically your idea, but I agree with Rory; for once this seems, I don’t know, risky.”
Sara sighs in response, “As we’ve constantly explained there is always an element of risk but this is my inherited grimoire so we’re doing this my way whether it’s Narcissa’s idea or not.”
Sean smirks, “Fine just as long as this gets us back on top.” I’m tired of everyone treating us like scum.”
Matthew laughs and high-fives Sean, “Yeah man that’s what I’m talking about.”
Ariana growls, “Will you boys start taking this seriously? We all are tired of this situation. For as long as we can remember our families have been and ostracized and treated like a joke! Well now we’re taking a stand and become as respected as we once were all those Centuries ago, a time when we were feared and treated like royalty.”
Rory swallows nervously, “And we understand that of course we do but our parents told us to keep our heads down because bad things happen to people who have taken a stand. Plus we’re not supposed to use magic. We made a promise to our parents.”
Ariana squeezes his shoulder in support. “I know but we owe them so much more than fitting in. No more should they take the crap that they have had for years being the butt of a joke.”
Rory smiles and nods, “I know . But we don’t know a thing about Sara’s ancestor.. It’s risky to awaken her.”
Narcissa grabs his hand and squeezes it, “A risk we have to take and if it goes wrong then..I’ll take responsibility.”
Ariana and Sara push Narcissa playfully as Sara speaks, “You know everyone thinks you’re a bitch but we know the real side.”
Narcissa glares back at them in response, “If you so much as tell anyone..”
Ariana and Sara laugh as they speak together, “Your secret is safe with us... wouldn’t wanna damage your so-called reputation!”
