Chapter 1
As he drowned in the neon light, hours became seconds and days all the same. There was no room for quiet anymore. There had to be noise.
The persistent cacophony of laugher, tears and flashing lights became his refuge. The sanctity of silence no longer sought after. The mind too scattered to know what to want.
The silence now felt heavy, the thoughts that came with it punishment. It was easier to drown.
The neon light that shouted from all directions would keep him safe. There was no chiding voice provoking change. No concern for the future.
Just the overwhelming light of blue and green...Sinking in felt easy. Every else was difficult. It was better to writhe in agony while he drowned in the voices of many while he took in countless lives, lives he thought he would never experience.
So he would just lie down and smile vacantly at what could be. Drowning. A willing victim of his own making.
Will he ever realize that the noise keeps him trapped? Or will he let it turn him into another drone. A voice that simply adds to this modern siren's call.
