Chapter 1 The Hunt

This is my first ever book I wrote.

As the story just forms inside my head, almost like a day dream.

I try to put it into words and writing it down, somtimes it comes surprisingly easy and at other times it is frustrating difficult.

I know in the future I may need to re adjust and revision my now published book to increase the consistency and read ability of my very firts fantasy fiction book.

But its contents wil stay the same.

But for now I just want to try to keep writting down what comes to mind and forms inside my fantasy, and I hope you may enjoy it.

Chapter 1 The hunt

I am Nadia 18 springs old, and until my teenage years, I lived a nomadic existence with my family and some other people of our small tribe. We lived in what people in our world called freedom. But in reality, We were always on our guard, living in fear not only for dangerous animals and creatures but especially of vampires. They ruled the world and we humans where their food, their entertainment or slave. Life was pretty good despite the hardships of living a nomadic hunter-gatherer existence. In the beautiful nature and landscape. Until that one terrible day.

As we had done a thousands off times before we did set up our small camp. And then split up to gather and hunt food for the upcoming days.

But this day would be the last day i would live as an free human and probably never see them again. Without knowing it...

While I was searching for edible plants, herbs, and berries in the remote wildernes. A vampire hunter who was hunting for creatures in the woods picked up my scent.

Hmm, is my nose deceiving me? Do I smell a human? The scent was masked, with herbs like wolfsbane. No, it was definitely a human; the scent was just masked. What is a human doing alone in this remote wilderness? Could it be an escaped slave?

I can catch good money with this, more than with the average creature, a welcome bonus. I'm sure I can sell that human for a good price at the human auction.

Suddenly I hear something. Could it be a predator? I try to smell it, but I don't detect any animal scent. Could I have imagined it?

But a moment later, I hear a twig snap. A vampire! My heart rate immediately increases, and adrenaline rushes through my body. I immediately run as if my life depended on it, which, in fact, it does. All my life, I've heard the most horrific stories from the escaped slaves who live among us.

But I'm not just any ordinary human girl. I'm what vampires call a wild human. But that's not what really makes me special, It's my blood. My blood is different; it has a mutation. Even I don't know that myself. Although not every vampire will be able to pick up on that, it's a very subtly different scent.

But I've managed to escape from vampires before. The most important thing is to first create as much distance as possible between us, and then hide in a good spot silently and conceal my scent. The hardest part is shaking off the vampire.

But I'm not a clumsy fool like the slaves who don't know how to be one with nature. I'm like a deer that has often escaped the wolf, and I come from a family that lived as wild humans in nature for generations.

The hunter is surprised when I break into a sprint.

"Shit, has that human discovered me already?!" He then begins to chase me.

"But like an elegant deer, I flee, knowing exactly where to place my feet to leave the least obvious trail possible."

But I am unlucky with this one, it is not just any hunter, it is one with a lot of experience, one who has also hunted wild humans before often, in the past.

The hunter grunts, as he chases after me.

Every now and then i make an stop to listen if i have shaken of my pursuer. Dammit it seems i cant shake him of. But this time, It's really against me. In the past, I could always find a river, stream, or lake to shake off a hunter. But this time, we were traveling through an area with few water sources, i was not planning to give just up.

Hmm, this one's not a easy catch. I'll get a better price for such a slave in good physical condition. It's almost like I'm hunting a wild human.

As I keep running, it's starting to take a toll on my body. My breathing is getting more irregular; I've been running for at least an hour. But I can't give up! I don't want to become a slave when I think about the terrible stories I've heard. Shit, why can't I lose him or find a water source? my muscles are starting to acidify. As i again came to an stop to listen.

Finally, I can no longer hear my pursuer. I climb high into a tree its not the best but there is no other option in this terrain and smear myself with marking herbs, thinking I'll just have to bide my time until the hunter gives up, as I've managed in the past.

I've had sat like this for days, until I was sure the coast was clear, to then find the group again.

The hunter had deliberately stopped to see how his prey would react. Ha, I knew it. That human is probably hiding now, thinking it lost me because it can't hear me anymore. Now i know fore sure i am hunting a wild one how rare you don't see them that much anymore, but it's a fun change to hunt one again.

The hunter was now following the trail, slowly and quietly, like a true predator, creeping closer.

While I'm sitting in the tree, I suddenly see the hunter. Shit, how did he find me? But it was already too late. Because suddenly has already grabbed me tightly and yanked me out of the tree. As he lands easily back on the ground with me in his arms. He immediately ties my arms behind my back and my legs together, tying them together as well, and blindfolding me.

ha who would have thought that i would catch a wild human woman today.

Let Natascha know what you thought about this chapter!

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
