Such an original concept!
"From the first chapter, I thought, WHAT A CONCEPT! We've all, probably many times, wondered what's going on in the minds of our furry (or feathered, or scaly) friends, but imagine if you found a whole secret world where they communicate on TikTok?! 😂 It's bonkers and hilarious, and you meet such incredible characters along the way. The utterly gormless Kevin the Husky will live in my head for a long time. "
The Cat-Less Cat Lady's Diary — by L Spoiler: There Are Plenty of Cats
"I almost scrolled past this one. The title made me think cozy comfort read, maybe a little predictable. I was wrong on every count. I've only read through chapter seven, that's all that's out right now, but I'm already here telling you to read this book. Elara is broke, burning her dinner, and accidentally accessing what appears to be a parallel TikTok feed run entirely by the animals in her neighborhood. The writing never once winks at you about how absurd that is. It just commits. Completely. And that commitment is what makes it work. The voice here is sharp without trying to be. Elara's narration has this dry, exhausted humor that feels genuinely lived-in. The kind of funny that comes from a person who has been tipped a lint-covered mint one too many times. She's relatable without being a doormat, curious without being reckless, and just self-aware enough to clock her own bad instincts in real time. But honestly? The animals steal it. The comment sections on the parallel feed are where this book earns its stars. The service dog discourse. The sneakers. The cat gang that only actually fought because a human showed up with a camera. There's real satirical intelligence underneath the absurdity, about social media, about performance, about how nobody actually wants conflict until someone's watching. The alpaca showed up and I fully lost it. We're only seven chapters in, so the jury's still out on whether Leo gets his act together enough to deserve Elara. We hope so. But honestly, the animals might be enough."
