La historia sigue a Kael, un líder "militar" que lucha contra la culpa de no haber podido proteger a su hermana Elara. En un mundo al borde del apocalipsis, Kael debe enfrentar a la Nueva Púrpura y a la orden del Cordón de la Sombra liderado por Víctor Aldridge, un antiguo amigo que ha traicionado a la humanidad para ser Satanás encarnado. Bajo la manipulación del falso profeta Azraelos, Kael lidera a un grupo de fieles guiados por el ángel Azariel, enfrentando trampas, falta de fe y crudos decapitamientos. Debe luchar contra entidades y demostrar que es digno del poder celestial que lleva, y aunque al inicio necesita de su vara Atlante, luego ya solo necesita la espada celestial. La historia concluye con una poderosa redención a través de Jesucristo, culminando en la paz de la Nueva Jerusalén, donde se reencuentra con sus hermanos Elara y Jonathan, quien se creía perdido en las arenas movedizas.
