Ce qu’on ne voit pas

Au lycée Montaigne, tout semblait normal.

Les couloirs étaient bruyants, les rires trop forts, les secrets échangés entre deux casiers. On aurait pu croire que rien d’extraordinaire ne pouvait arriver dans un endroit aussi banal.

Amel marchait près des fenêtres. Ses longs cheveux bouclés bruns encadraient son visage doux. Elle avait cette manière d’écouter les autres comme si leurs mots avaient du poids. Comme si rien n’était insignifiant.

Elle s’attachait vite. Trop vite, disait Léna.

Léna, avec ses cheveux blonds courts et ses yeux bleus rieurs, apportait toujours de la lumière. Même quand elle ne se rendait pas compte qu’elle évitait certains regards. Même quand elle riait un peu trop fort pour masquer un malaise.

Et puis il y avait Sebas.

Grand. Brun. Coiffure middle part impeccable. Regard marron intense.

Il avait cette réputation. Charmeur. Intouchable.

Cruel aussi.

Il aimait provoquer. Il aimait dominer les conversations. Il harcelait parfois — sous couvert d’humour.

Sauf avec Amel.

Avec elle, il baissait la voix.

Mais il ne lui disait jamais pourquoi.
