Prologue

A few months left.

A few months left before the final exams, before the batch 2025-26 says a final goodbye to its school, before the students are burdened under the weight of their future.

A few months left for the students to have fun under the safe and secure environment of the school. It’s September now and they’ll pass out of the school by March.

Considering it their last opportunity, the students are determined to make some memorable moments.

Amongst this chaos of building a future and determination of enjoying life, is sitting Ravya – the cultural head girl of the school.

Ravya is considered to be a topper, a nerd. A physically unattractive and egoistic girl who is full of herself. The one who is hard to deal with.

Hearing all these insignificant titles all through her life changed her perception of herself. It made her feel insecure about her physique and complexion. It made her believe that she is insignificant and undesirable. Those words took her confidence. Forced her to make a wall around her heart, to be quiet until spoken to. Her feelings were repressed by the constant fear. The fear of getting ignored, left, unloved and the fear of having no priority in the life of a person who is your priority.

But sometimes one’s thinking can be superficial, not reality.

Reality is that she is a warrior who ignores those voices. A warrior to stand in the face of insecurity, to not let them shape her life, to ignore those relations which make her feel weak, to let them know that they can’t stop her and especially to not let herself down in front of others. She is a sincere, polite, kind, friendly, all-rounder which only her classmates know.

She is not a moon to shine brightly. She is a silent wind which is felt sweetly and softly.

She is burdened under pressure. The pressure of securing a good future, to make her family proud, to choose what is right under the right situations. This was one more of a reason to not fall under the influence of teenage hormones. The reason to not have crushes. All they do is take you away from your dreams.

It is true, though. They deviate you from your path to some extent and one can’t let anyone else ruin their future. There will be a correct time in the future for all of those things is what she believed. Wanted to believe. Made to believe.

But everything doesn’t always go as we planned. Also, who are we to decide what to do? Some decisions are made by our heart. Some hopes don’t come with logic. They are just bound to be there. These hopes are neither wrong nor they can be completely ignored.

That is why despite being pressured and advised to not fall for boys all her life, despite understanding the necessity to stay away from these things, despite knowing it’s pros and cons, there was always a hope in Ravya’s heart that someone would like her. Someone would make her his priority. Someone would make her feel special not insecure.

Hope – four letters but carries life in itself. When there is a hope there is a life.
