Chapter 1 The Arrival

The apartment was silent except for the rhythmic ticking of the wall clock. The glow from a single desk lamp cast long, wavering shadows across piles of letters and scattered papers. Each sheet seemed to hold secrets, whispers of a life she thought she understood, waiting to be discovered.

Liora sat hunched over the desk, her fingers tracing the edges of a freshly delivered envelope. The handwriting on it was elegant, deliberate, yet unfamiliar, and it stirred something uneasy in her chest. Her pulse quickened with a mix of curiosity and dread.

Suddenly, there was a KNOCK at the door.

Startled, Liora froze, her breath catching in her throat.

LIORA

(softly, to herself)

Who… could that be at this hour?

She rose cautiously, her feet barely making a sound on the cold floor, and stepped into the shadowed hallway. The silence pressed against her ears, broken only by the faint hum of the building’s pipes.

When she opened the door, no one was there. Only a pristine envelope lay on the mat. She picked it up, her fingers lingering over the smooth paper as though she could feel the presence of the sender through it.

LIORA

(confused)

Just a letter…

Back at her desk, she carefully opened it. The paper inside was crisp, pale, and smelled faintly of something floral, like a memory she couldn’t place. Written across it in flowing, almost hypnotic script were the words:

"Liora, some truths are not meant to be found… they will find you."

Her breath caught.

LIORA

(whispering)

Find me…?

A chill brushed against the back of her neck, and the shadows in the room seemed to twist and flicker unnaturally. A soft, distant whisper echoed: “You know…”

Questions swirled in her mind. Who sent this? How did they know her name? Why now? The unease that had been quietly gnawing at her heart intensified.

Liora sat back, holding the letter in her hands. She realized this was not just a message—it was a summons, a call that she could not ignore. Something inside her urged her to uncover the mystery, to step into the unknown despite the fear curling in her stomach.

The room seemed to respond to her resolve. The lamp flickered once, then steadied. The ticking of the clock grew louder, marking the passage of a moment that felt larger than time itself.

Liora exhaled slowly, her resolve solidifying.

LIORA

(to herself)

I have to know… I have to follow.

She placed the letter carefully on the desk, as if setting it down in a sacred space, and for the first time in hours, felt a strange mixture of anticipation and fear. Outside, the city hummed quietly, unaware that something extraordinary had begun.
